Based on other drafted players with injuries is it in fact the case that the Cowboys will sign and PAY Jaylon even if he sits this year? I assume this is covered by the CBA....can anyone confirm?
Yes. If he s signed he gets paid. Players on IR get paid as if on active roster.Based on other drafted players with injuries is it in fact the case that the Cowboys will sign and PAY Jaylon even if he sits this year? I assume this is covered by the CBA....can anyone confirm?

Yes, but I wonder how much money he lost
How much money do they think he lost by falling into second round?

don't know how much he lost, but he will get $900,000.00 from the insurance policy. I know that this in no way makes up for what he lost, but it does highlight the value of insurance.
I hope he takes that insurance money, which I understand is tax free, and puts it in the hands of a reasonable investment adviser who won't be steering him into investing in restaurants and real estate investment trusts, but into quality stocks and bonds and then just lets it sit for 25 years.
Of course, I would have done the same with the $5 million, $10 million signing bonus whatever they pay these guys.
He ll get about 8% more in his signing bonus than the guy got last year in the same draft position. Its pretty much all slotted.Makes sense.....but will they wait to sign him? Until his nerve heals? Will he get as much guaranteed $ as if healthy? Just curious......
Yeah lots of opportunity with zero interest rates.I hope he takes that insurance money, which I understand is tax free, and puts it in the hands of a reasonable investment adviser who won't be steering him into investing in restaurants and real estate investment trusts, but into quality stocks and bonds and then just lets it sit for 25 years.

based on last years 34th pick jaylons signing bonus should be around 2.7 to 2.9 million.Yeah lots of opportunity with zero interest rates.

Kook.Lots of misinformation regarding bonus, interest asnd other items. I have knowledge on these matters and know one is correct. All this information is confidential and anyone posting would be the last to know anything about it...I guess we have lots of people with time on their hands...please go look for work instead of spreading stupid stuff. This is what happens with goverment handouts,,,GOOD GRIEF...
The answer to your second question us available on the premium board, fyi.
you don't have to "play" to get an accrued season. you do have to be on the active roster. it will be interesting to see how the cowboys play it.He will get paid his full contract, but if he doesn't play a minimum number of games (i.e. spends the year on the NFI list) then he won't get an accrued season. This would mean that when his 4 yr. rookie contract is up he will be a restricted free agent instead of an unrestricted one. That's really the only penalty other than the lost bonus from his fall in the draft.

"Accrued Season vs. Credited Season"
The CBA includes Accrued Season (AS) and Credited Season (CS) in varying fashions throughout the CBA. They are applicable to different aspects of player contracts and free agency status. Each requires a different number of games to attain a "season" of service. An accrued season requires 6 or more regular season games at full pay status, while a credited season only requires 3 or more games at full pay status.
Accrued Season (AS): "[A]ny playing season for which a player received credit with respect to his qualifications for Unrestricted Free Agency or Restricted Free Agency."
Credited Season (CS): This term comes from the Bell/Rozelle retirement plan in place for the NFL. If you are down to read about pensions and whatnot, you can check out this PDF. "Credited" seasons are used for determining pension and minimum salary eligibility, while accrued seasons are for free agency purposes.
- Calculation: A player gets 1 AS for each season: 1) they are under contract with a team and 2) they are on full pay status (Active/Inactive roster and Injured Reserve list for 6 or more regular season games). Players do not qualify if they are on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list as a result of a non-football injury, the Practice Squad, or the Exempt Commissioner Permission List.
