James Aldridge.....

For some reason I was thinking about him the other day and wondered what ever became of him? I know the Irish always had huge hopes for him, but he blew his knee out before ever arriving and had a pretty "meh" career. Never had a run over 45 yards, had less than 5 TD's in his career, and I don't remember what happened to him in his senior year but he didn't play much - did he get hurt again?

I saw that he transitioned into Rugby and was even trying to make the national team back in the 2012 time-frame. Said he was living in Aspen coaching HS football and track. Anyone heard anything about him since then? He always struck me as a good young man - hope he is doing well.

I saw him in the Denver International Airport back in October of 2012. He was long gone from the program so I didn't say anything to him.

I was fortunate enough to witness the HS career of James during his Junior and Senior seasons. He transferred into Merrillville (Ind) HS and took the state by storm. The last game of his Junior season is when he suffered the injury and his Senior season he played with caution which means not as effective. Never the less, the offers came pouring in based on his Junior year. His best friend was back in Missouri and up until the Aldridge family moved to Indiana, he and his friend wanted to play at Mizzou. He earned a schollie to ND. Actually saw the field. Scored a TD. Earned his degree. Stayed out of any kind of trouble. Sounds like a success to me. He used to come back to Merrillville HS to work out. Not sure if that's the case anymore.
