Jack S. gives Brian Kelly his vote of confidence--says he will not be coaching for his job.

I told you guys that I thought Brian Kelly was done after the NC State game (that he would be gone at the end of the year) and now there is proof.
Jack is one dumb $hit.
There was absolutely no reason to say this.
He now puts himself and the entire program behind the 8 ball.
He could have done this after the season.

think recruits were beginning to worry and Jack had to speak up. We all knew BK would be back next year anyway.

Ok, so what would Swarbrick do

What was Swarbrick supposed to do? Act like reporters didn't ask the questions? Avoid the media until next year?Kelly will 99% sure come back next year people. He just signed a 5 yr deal! He will have opportunity to right the ship next year and if he cannot, he is probably gone. I am just as disappointed as everyone else but be realistic.

Time will tell. Remember, Jack doesn't make those decisions in the end. Those above him do. If true, ND has given up on it's Football program. And so have I.

Jack is doing his job the best way he sees fit. His butt is on the line too. The Irish masses may not agree but BK is here for 2017. Recruits know it. The current players know it. The staff know it. And now the fans know it. Time to move on from all this Tom Herman talk and get ourselves a DC. Don't be surprised if Hudson is retained. Let's salvage the season, finish with a strong recruiting class, and come back next Spring loaded for bear. Both sides of the ball will be returning a ton. You can either accept it or be miserable old women for the next year or so.

OMG you have to be kidding on keeping Hudson. Did you see him at Purdue? They ran him out of town because the defense was atrocious.

Look, no one now is coming here to coach or as a recruit - unless the recruit really loves the school and is not attracted by a coach. 8 & 4 is gone. It's not a matter of if, but when. And everyone in the industry knows this as well as the recruits. Hudson will be here not because ND wouldn't want a great DC, it's because no one would come here and ruin their resume. Also, I can not believe, given what they just had gone through with White and Weis, that the school Board of Directors (and they have to approve any contract of this magnitude) and AD do not have a buy out over the first 2 or 3 years of the extension. So I believe the amount of money involved is not anywhere near what some here are saying. Finally, Kelly will want this as much as ND does. Staying here does not help his career - it really damages his reputation and future earning potential. He's young and has a lot more time in football - unless he destroys his future hiring and earning capability by staying.

As you know, I have been proKelly since he got here. But no Notre Dame coach should lose over five games with this schedule. With the talent we have we should be 7 and 0 and talking about playoffs. I really thought this team would go 12 and 0 this year, With the right coach that should happen. I like Brian Kelly and think he has been a great representative of ND but he needs to go. The train is off the tracks.

We know. Fans like you are invaluable to the program. This just didn't work. Like to see the AD go young and bold, along the lines of P.J. Fleck (or another top level program will certainly grab him, he's that well thought of). Fingers crossed the next hire works/clicks like Ara or Lou.

this situation is a bit more fluid than it appears to be. The well is poisoned but we haven't seen just how toxic it can get just yet. I remember the Weis team's loss to Syracuse...and the media tone echoed the sideline shots of Weis late in the game. That was the smell of death.

This season may generate similar game atmospheres with BK. Its very hard to watch. Similar game visuals going back to Gerry Faust come to mind. No....this season hasn't seen the worst of times for BK yet. But we will know them when they arrive.
