It's a disgrace

His season stats did not warrant a Heisman, his career did but the award is for a single season. He did not belong. There were 20 other more deserving candidates based on just this one season.

I never watch ESPN except for actual games. Why anyone would watch all that other crap is beyond me.

This. The entire Gameday show is more about the personalities (Corso, Herbsteit, et al.) than it is about the actual games. I suppose that's why it attracts a certain age demographic. I haven't watched the show in years. I find the program insufferable.

Based on what? He ran for almost 1100 with 19 TD's and threw for almost 1000 with 6 TD's and 1 INT for Navy! Oh and most people aren't saying these numbers mean he should win it but he deserved an invite.

Honestly I think the Heisman is a joke these days anyway, there are always kids who deserve it more that the winner and it comes down to politics and these voters who are clueless. It has been this way for a long time, just look at the year Rocket should have won it but didn't. Also the best all around player is McCaffrey IMO though I think Henry had a great year. Still if you are not biased and look at the talent around Henry it is a joke, he has the best offensive line in the country.

Exactly, that's less than 200 yards a game and 2 tds a game from the QB position. Amazing he did that for 4 years without major injury but a single season. That's nothing special. Example. In one less start Kizer has 28 TDs and averages 100 yds more per game from the QB position than Reynolds but no one is talking about him for Heisman.

ESPN might have some say as to how many guys they bring to New York, but ESPN has nothing to do with who wins the award. Does Reynolds really need to go to NY to find out he finished fifth?

Exactly.

"Bar Stool Sports" is your source? Really?

I don't agree with the move ESPN made to make it harder to vote for Reynolds, but that fan vote only adds up to one real vote for the Heisman. There are another 800 or 900 individual votes by writers/commentators that comprise the selection process.

I suggest that you educate yourself. That references the fan vote. That is, the fans could vote for who they believe should win the Heisman. Whoever received the most fan votes received a single Heisman vote.
Reynolds did not lose the Heisman by a single vote. He didn't even finish in the top three. You are way off base here.

So ESPN coverage of the athletes had no impact on any of the Heisman voters really? And Bar Stool Sports is just one of many sites that has discussed it.

Holy hannah! News breaking:

Broncos Quietly Bury Peyton Manning In Unmarked Grave Next To Stadium

DENVER—Standing solemnly next to the patch of ground where the veteran quarterback’s body lay, members of the Denver Broncos organization quietly buried Peyton Manning in an unmarked grave next to Sports Authority Field at Mile High, sources confirmed Thursday. “You were a good quarterback...and a good man,” Broncos general manager John Elway said as he shoveled the last bit of soil onto Manning’s grave, leaving only a small mound of dirt to signify the longtime NFL star’s final resting place near the stadium’s Gate 8 entrance. “We’ll never forget you. Rest well, old friend.”

Whatever effect ESPN had was minimal. Reynolds did not finish 5th as a result of anything ESPN did or didn't do.

No offense, but this is a stupid assertion. Of course his stats will be less in numbers. He runs the option which is more akin to 15 play sustained drives and less overall possessions per game. This guy absolutely should have been considered and invited.

This thread seems like we want to give Reynolds a sort of participation trophy.

The disgrace is some of the winners who have won this award in the past when there is supposed to be a clause judging the potential candidates on character.

ESPN has little to do with the outcome and (even though I was pullin for either Reynolds or McCaffery) it appears that the winner may be better suited as "the most outstanding player" of 2015.

His character really doesnt fit the recent scumbag winners of the Heisman like Rapist Jameis, Manzel, sCAM and Reggie.

So now possessions per game are a criteria, and the fact he runs the option is a criteria? How about best player or the best season in the country is the criteria? Is Reynolds the best player in the country? Not even close. Did he have the best season in the country? Nope! In 2013 he had more yards and 39 TDs, this year he has 26 and he deserves it this year? His team also lost by a good amount in 2 games.

Look, I think what he does is awesome, but Heisman, c'mon man. It's like what was said above, a "participation tropy" if you give it to him.

He was playing in the AAC. Does everyone think Timmy Chang of Hawaii deserved to win the Heisman in 2004?

What was the back from Wisconsin? Ron Dane maybe.

He did not deserve it for his senior year but received it more for a career with his rushing record

And do you honestly believe it goes to the best player ... Com'on man. If that were true how come its never a defensive player? A lineman?

The Heisman is supposed to go to the most outstanding player yet over the last several years many Heisman voters treat it as an MVP trophy that should go to the best player on one of the best teams. There is nothing in the Heisman criteria that suggests it should be treated as an MVP trophy. This year Derrick Henry is considered the favorite. He's a great player but does anyone think he would be the favorite if he and McCaffrey swapped teams somehow? Imagine DH with the same exact rushing numbers he has now but with Stanford and CM with the same exact all-purpose numbers he has but with Alabama. Does anyone think DH would still be the favorite? I'm not suggesting Stanford isn't highly regarded but, in the scenario I just described, I think CM would be the runaway winner because Alabama is more highly regarded and that's where I think the biggest problem is. The Heisman should always go to the most outstanding player regardless of who he plays for and how that team is doing.

That Kennon Reynolds was not a Heismann finalist. Embarrassment for College Football.

I agree Reynolds should have received more support and should have been invited to the ceremony. I do believe he is a better player than credited, in part, because he has done much with less of a supporting cast. At the same time, its is hardly a disgrace or an embarrassment that he did not receive extensive support; hardly a sufficiently important topic for discussions of embarrassment.

Should be there-----4 year starter-----all time leading TD scorer in the history of the game.

If they beat Houston he probably would have been there but the media of today has a 4 week recall problem let alone a 4 year.

Just remember it was the "career achievement" angle that boosted Ty Detmer over Rocket
