Is Kelly the Coach that came and never leaves?

Based on what some know-it-alls here say, there’s no need to look cuz there’s no one out there better. They know this for sure cuz their football acumen is far superior to the rest of us.

I say he is here at least 5 more years

Maybe retires here

He has nowhere to go

As long as Jack is here Kelly is too

As long as they are here. 9-3 or worse is too
Ski...gentleman’s bet he retires or leaves for another job after next season.

It's so easy to fire people from behind a keyboard with no clue on contracts, inside knowledge of who is on the "short list" and who isn't interested. What a buyout would take to get the dream coach if he is even interested and what the buyout would be for the dismissed coach. Throwing out names of candidates on a message board isn't reality. It's just talk. Besides, who would fire BK and who would hire the next guy because apparently, Jack is to be fired also. It would be one big "Firepalooza" if you guys had your way. I would take a long hard look at Tommy R , and, at the very least, start spending my time with him and the QBs into Fall camp. IMHO he is too young and too inexperienced.

Let the gurus of the board hire the next coach and then when he fails, they have no one else to blame. The bottom line is that very few coaches want to coach at Notre Dame because of all the bullshit that goes along with the position. Issues with getting students in with less than stellar test scores and great point averages, Issues with the courses that freshman athletes have to take including calculus and statistics, issues with how student athletes are disciplined etc. The list goes on and on. It’s far easier to win at all the schools then it is at Notre Dame and after all it’s all about winning in the end. And if the administration or the Board of Trustees is happy with an eight and four or nine and three season nothings going to change. I am not advocating change on ND’s part just my opinion. I still enjoy watching the Irish and you never know. We can get lucky

Ok TelX. That’s a bet I will take. One for the team, so to speak

Or, sooner.

There are great location openings available right now. Location, location, location. Going out on a limb here and predicting Kelly does not coach ND in the bowl game.

great discussion this morning between rece davis and scott van pelt about all the coaching vacancies. i agree with davis when he says that only two maybe three coaches ( saban, meyer and maybe dabo ) would be highly successful ( meaning winning nattys) whereever they coach. for the rest of the programs now it's about finding the right "fit" in a coach. the sec will have 9 new coaches in two seasons. kevin sumlin has done as well or better than his predecessors. he's out. does A & M really think they can do better ? they never have. everyone is chasing bama, clemson and osu. the problem is those three schools having something that is not available to everyone else. this post has nothing to do with notre dame but about the current landscape of college football.

That's my feeling too. If not one year, maybe two more seasons. I think his current contract expires in 2021, but I get the sense that BK is about cooked and that even he is realizing that he can't take the team over that next hurdle. I envision a scene in which he retires, but does so with a little gentle prodding from the administration in the way of a partial buyout. He'd be set for life and still be young enough and healthy enough to enjoy it.

I personally think Swarbrick does a pretty good job as AD. Many teams are doing well; the football team is doing okay, not great, not terrible. Although Kelly is signed through 2021, nobody here has any idea of what that deal says -- unless, of course, Father Jenkins negotiated it. If that is the case, it's about $10 more favorable than the deal he gave Weis. (I know, I know, it was the evil Kevin White who made that deal; personally I think Kevin White, who has succeeded everywhere else he works, was forced to make that deal, but that's just my opinion.)

You and others have most certainly said that, ad nauseam. I think you should throw your name in the hat. I know it would kill you to try and push your boy out, since he’s the best we can get, but give it a try. Your superior football acumen should turn ND around in a jiffy.

He came, he saw, he is trying to conquer. Go Irish
