Irish Getting Some Love

Hopefully it does not jinx them. It would give them great confidence if they could defeat USC.

Watched "College Football Live". MSU is their flavor of the day for bouncing back from last season with a very good win over Michigan. No mention of the butt whooping two weeks earlier. No mention of any kind of the Irish. Pretty much the same for "Inside College Football". This will change drastically if ND can TCB over the second half of the season. This kind of tells me that these type shows don't respect our schedule so far.

Not sure the show, ranked ND in the top 5 of one loss teams. Showed their remaining schedule and said be hard to keep them out if they win all. Said B10 was weak, PSU has not played anyone. Interesting. Long way to go.

Beat SC and and NCState and on 10/31 ND will be ranked 5 or 6 it poll at counts. Just watch Letss gooooooo !!!!
ND Top 10 when they take out USC. Maybe MSU goes on to win the B1G - now what?!? ND smoked your Champ. It's getting interesting folks.

Gotta beat USC... I don't care if it's 13-10. It's a must win game or else all momentum is lost, the Irish plummet to 23rd (or some irrelevant spot) or out of the polls altogether. Win and I can't even imagine what this team will start believing they can accomplish. And to think it's such a young team.

I think BK must win. Unkess it's a controversial call I can't see him surviving a beat down at home after we've showed much promise... Again.

I don't see this team getting beat down. Listen after the loss to UGA I spent all night and into the early morning trashing him because I never thought he should have returned in the first place. 4-8 in year 7? Anybody else here wanna guess what our boss/owner does if one of us throw out that kind of performance in year 7?

But I've started to turn a little. Just a little. Win the next two and I'm 100% back in wit BK and will admit I was Mr. Wrong Pants.

Last night on the playoff review show on ESPN, Rece Davis even gave the Irish some love. He said if the Irish run the table and end up 11-1 with a one point loss to GA being the only loss - show him a team with a better resume than that. He said you wouldn't be able to find one.

Of course running the table is easier said than done, but at least we're getting some recognition instead of the constant trashing.

Exactly. Chances of running the table are slim. I see two more losses but am honestly hoping for only one. Zero losses is possible and I can make a case to win each and every game but without a proven QB and better passing game I just do not realistically see it happening.

At the moment all I want is a USC win and a NC state win....if ND can go to Miami undefeated I will be a very happy man. I do think if they are undefeated going to Stanford they win that game. I think they win that game as long as they do not lose more than once before then to be honest.

CFB Live may be limited in how many FOX clips they can or want to show. Also ESPN talking heads want to promote their own content, ND doesn't play their network for several weeks

Great points about the year seven performance.

I want to see him win one big game. I want to see a game deciding decision that goes in our favor.

So far those big decisions in game have cemented us losing.

HRC08, respect for the post. The one thing I always remind my friends when they are slitting their wrists after a loss and painting the "Fire (insert name of their team's coach)" billboard - the coaches don't play the games. Would it really be BK's fault if the Irish were winning a game vs. USC, Miami, etc., and then someone fumbles, BW throws a pick, etc.? For me it always comes back to are we competitive and prepared. BVG did not have our team prepared, pure and simple. That to me is a coach whop needed to be fired - for whatever reason, it simply didn't work with him.

88ND, fair enough - but how about all of the other coaching decisions made throughout the year? The preparation, the beaten to death changes he's made, the fact that the players have obviously responded, the uptick in recruiting. Just like BK gets his ass handed to him for a 4-8 season as the Head Coach, so should he get the credit for everything positive happening this year. He's definitely made some questionable calls, no doubt - can't ignore those. But he's made some great calls as well.

Gents, just ask yourselves these questions;

  1. Are we having fun again as Irish fans? Hell Yeah!!
  2. Are our Irish playing well and having fun? Hell Yeah!!
  3. Are we nervous as hell about the USC game? Hell Yeah!!!
  4. If we beat USC, do we suddenly tell ourselves "Holy Crap, we just might actually be back" and suddenly feel like we actually have a shot at beating the others on our remaining games? Hell Yeah!!!

That's all I personally ask for as an Irish fan. I love my Notre Dame football team. It's what I truly look forward to all year before the season starts. When they win, I am on cloud 9. When they lose, my wife hides in her study or heads out of the house to go shopping while I rant and rave, pout and start thinking all the naysayers calling for BK's head are brilliant mf'ers and I'm with them......Then the next week I forgive and do it all over again.

Go Irish!! Kick USC's arse all over South Bend......

BK said himself on "Inside Notre Dame Football" this past week that the coaches can prep the players but the players still have to make plays. I will add especially making plays in crucial situations.

I would give him tons of credit if he was doing something above and beyond the normal common practice of being the head coach of a football team.
I want to see something that makes our guy better than just your typical cookie cutter coach.
Sadly I see nothing that indicates that. Up to this year I did see houwever many instances where we looked foolish and embarrassed.

That hasn't happened yet this year but I will withhold my praise until at least after the season and all the opportunity for him to have his signature WTF moment is gone.

Seven years of WTF I think he needs to EARN back some respect that extends a little beyond a half of a season...don't you think so ?

No, sorry, I don't. Seven years of wtf? Up until last year he was 55-23 with a trip the championship in 2012. Winning seasons every year except for last year. Yes, I do think he had to rebound this year, and guess what? He has so far. Happier team, winning games, lots of positive changes, etc.

You are entitled to feel anyway you want - you don't like the guy, fine.

He has had an average of four losses per season over that span.

Now I'm not sure about you but to me that's pretty damn mediocre. It's even worse than that considering he's at the claimed football school.

i for one am enjoying the season. i still believe 2016 was an anomaly. based on 2015 and the current season to date that appears to be the case.

I 2nd everything you say! Being married to a Nebraska fan and having all my friends bleed for the Huskers, trust me.... it can be worse! BK is our coach and there is no one out there I would rather have (realistically). He sucked @$$ last year, but did what he had to do and the change in attitude on this team is amazing. To me it doesn't matter if we win out or not, I am excited about ND's football future.
