Interesting read on NIL and revenue sharing

This evolving topic is fascinating. I'm convinced the northern blue bloods with deeper pockets will benefit most. As well as branding.

Ironically the SEC faces challenges. Texas has the money. I'm guessing Florida and Georgia with their alumni base. I'll throw in Florida State as a non-SEC but yet southern school similarly positioned.

I don't know that even Alabama has the pockets. LSU? Ole Miss? Poetic justice for their being leads in under the table payments that allowed the SEC to be an outlier dominator for 20 years.

The BIG, ND, USC, emerging Oregon, they got this if done correctly. Small wonder the SEC is crying for limits and sharing. I've ZERO sympathy for these cheats...punishing USC and Pete Carroll for what they institutionalized.

You left out the Texas schools. They have deeper pockets than anyone.

It is amazing how the talent is shifting now that the SEC teams can no longer hoard talent via bag drops.

Brian Kelly's statements about not being able to win a NC at ND, and how LSU gives him that opportunity is almost poetic justice.

You just had to tempt fate in baiting yet another BK fight!

:D

But, given that BK is mega rich, some acerbic hour is ok. I kinda is funny how this has boomeranged on him and the entire SEC.

Again, I wish BK success. But the SEC can suck it.

Once upon a time it was about getting a car, a few 1k$, some rimes. Not going to class. Well, for a few dollahs more, like $100k+...they'll go to class.

Ah the beauty of incentive and merit driven capitalism! Don't you just love it?

The debate is over. In a short time Marcus Freeman has exceeded what BK failed to do. Win big games, beat top 5 teams, and win a major bowl game.

I agree.

Today is the day.

I'm going to be bolted to my couch hoping MF makes even greater history today.

One game at a time.

Go Fighting Irish!

Today is the day! I however F'd up the other day and booked a flight out tonight at 9:00 PM not realizing the game was tonight. It's a regional trip so I'm hoping my flight has wifi or onboard TV.

I agree 1000% I had a feeling the tide would turn(pun intended) when NIL was finally passed. I also thought non blue blood schools in bigger markets would have more success (Houston, Cincy, Minnesota, Boston College etc) so wondering how those shake out but I think IU and UNC could be lumped into that category..

Although not as big of a component of the guard changing, I feel like this generation of kids is valuing the concept of life after ball moreso than previous generations and ND, USC, Texas, Michigan, Ohio State etc offer much more prestigious degrees with far reaching alumni networks that set these kids up for success after football is over.

I'm counting on brand to make ND stay elite on several factors:
  • Mythical Brand: ND in and of itself is the once and future King of college football...tradition, song, global cross region draw, historical victories and icons, Catholic, and being the good guy,
  • NIL: ND has DEEP pockets...the money can draw more of the great athletes that can hang with the academics...concentrating them at ND rather than distributing at Stanford, Duke, and other places.
  • Transfers: ND can be selective, tweaking with high impact QBs and other skill positions.
  • Network and Degree: ND success is a salvo for inspiring athletes to believe school is for study and the future, not only football.
    • Alumni:
      • engage to teach personal finance, investing NIL for ROI.
      • Employ graduates.
  • Elite Coaching: Marcus Freeman is THE coach...pay him more. Retain. This doesn't happen often.
Again, the only possible wrinkle is how good can an Ohio State be? Where they are all in on professionalism? I still think ND can have the talent base to compete evenly...my main worry is if the NCAA allows older players, which I think would be as wrong as can be idealistically.

But maybe ND can have select older players? Get a pro QB to finish a degree, LOL.

Laugh out loud at believing "merit driven" capitalism actually exists

Start another thread. In fact, find the investing thread some of us were on.

I've flitted Silicon Valley & Wall Street 30+ years. After a 4 year US Army officer stint, where ironically I learned investing basics. I also have a Seeking Alpha blog.

I don't sell anything. I simply am looking for investing collaborators...to juice returns even more. Being instructive. I can EASILY show you merit driven capitalism works...with mathematical certainty...since you are so high on statistics and data.

@chaseball

Now that we're jousting on this, I'll channel something from being an ND subway fan.

Anytime and anyplace. Bring it on this capitalism stuff. But I warn you...I have the requisite data, models, analysis, and results.

You won't get far on your usual platitudes born off of F+ analysis of investing returns!
