In the words of Lou Holtz....

As long as people get to vote for the top 4, the true champion will be left out. 16 teams and there is no lie. 8 and you can change your schedule enough to be a fib.

Dip, I think he meant that there were teams more worthy of being afforded the opportunity to live that lie. If that's what he meant, I agree.
ND loses to Clemson by 2 at Clemson. ND loses by 2 to Stanford at Stanford.
Stanford wins the Pac12 championship but is kept out of playoffs even though they play a far tougher schedule than OK and played one more game.
Clemson beats OK at a neutral site by 20.
OK was awarded a spot in the playoffs that could easily be argued they were not deserving of.
Living a lie

They beat 3 back up QB'S to get into the tournament and lost to Texas. They were as fake as a 3 dollar bill. I have higher aspirations for ND than the 2015 Oklahoma Sooners. They were imposters.

And what higher aspirations in 2015 would that be for ND?

What team deserved to be in over OU? Sometimes teams lose a game or get blown out. The only argument for another team to be in would be Stanford, but they had two losses. Hard to put a two loss team in over a one loss team anyway.

This is like the people who claimed ND shouldn't have been in the BCS in 2005 and 2006. The evidence to that point suggested they should have been. You can't use new information as evidence that a past decision was poor because you can't predict the future.

Hope that makes sense.

Oklahoma was totally overrated! They lost to Texas, for heaven's sake!

Oklahoma was clearly the belle of the ball leading up to the playoffs. But I wouldn't hold their loss against Texas against them. It's their biggest rivalry game and the Texas players rallied behind their coach and played an emotional game.

I think Clemson is real good. In fact, I think if they had played ND today they would have won by 10 to 14 points.

Oklahoma for whatever reason became the media darling around week 8 on. Why? I don't care about the Texas loss so much but I'm thinking they got included because of the Big 12 getting snubbed last year.

Stanford, OSU, ND ......all would gave fared better.

Having said that did they earn to be there? Maybe. Timing is everything and they were fortunate to have some things fall their way at the right time.

This might also be some ammo to get a bigger playoff system in place.
I don't think anyone would complain if
Bama, OSU, Clemson, OU, Stanford, ND, Iowa, MSU were the 8 teams this year in the playoff. A step toward a true champion.

The committee has to be scratching their collective heads right about now. Neither Clemson nor Bama are THAT good...the system just stinks.

You could add Houston to that list.

Alabama not that good? Yeah, maybe for an NFL team, but for a college team they are a machine. If they played ND last night it probably would have been as bad as the last time they played.

Bama did lose a game this year to an average Ole Miss team and squeaked by Tennessee. MSU didn't belong in the playoffs and it showed. Just like OU didn't belong in the playoffs. There are teams this year that would have given Bama and Clemson a run for their money and, IMO, ND is one of those teams.

Disagree. Four is plenty. A 16 team playoff would bring us too many pretenders.

there is a game in a few hours, so let's wait to 'pop off' till after the game lest we have egg on our faces!

Exactly.

Losing 2 games by 4 total points to the likes of Stanford and Clemson and losing starters like ND did should have afforded them a top 4 ranking.

Ole Miss played by far and away it's best game. Every bounce went their way and Alabama was in the middle of a quarterback controversy.

Alabama would score at will against ND's defense and they would stuff our rushing attack even worse than Clemson did in the first half of our game and they would force us to throw. They'd give up some big plays no doubt, but they wouldn't give Kizer time to get comfortable.

I said higher aspirations for ND period. I never mentioned 2015. So your question is irrelevant and not worthy of an answer. OU faced all back up QB's down the strech. Not their fault but a,fact none the less. When they faced a Championship Level opponent with a starting QB they were destroyed. Clemson had over 300 yards rushing and had they executed in the Red Zone during the 1st half they'd of scored 50.

Simple eyeball tests.against 2 common opponents (Clemson and,Texas) clearly shows ND is a better football team. I don't like you DIP, you take every opportunity to talk up ND foes and minimize ND's accomplishments. You are not a ND fan or someone who knows very much about football in general. I'm putting you on ignore because I made a New,Years resolution to avoid time wasters. So long buddy

We can say all the hypothetical situations out there and make all the excuses in the world for a team losing but it doesn't matter in the end because ND and Alabama are not playing each other this year. I believe ND would beat them and you do not - so what. My point was MSU was ranked one spot below Bama. You can have all the man-crush in the world you want for Alabama but they are not 38 points better than a 'rightfully ranked' nr. 3 team in the nation. Alabama only shut out one team this year and it was an Louisiana-Monroe and only beat one team worse which was Charleston Southern.

Same Ol' floridairish

I didn't realize OU was a ND opponent so which one are you talking about? Stanford? You still pissed over that post huh? It had nothing to do with ND BTW.

Every ND fan has high expectations, just most don't put down other teams with empty comments.

You talk a lot with little substance. Ignore buttons are for the ones who cant take the heat. I am a ND fan just not your type which is fine with me.

So long floridairish, but I hope you have a happy New Year
