Of course I understand that with both MZ & Tarean going down the entire offense had to pause.....and his #1 achievement is getting BOTH QB's Deshone & Wimbush ready to play---no small accomplishments.

I'm hoping to start seeing some new plays/wrinkles this week that "surprise" not only clemson but all of us diehard ND fans. The 2015 offense so far still is BK's--which is still a VERY good thing--but is there evidence of Sanford's shaking up the room/gameplan yet?

HH last season was pushing the screen game which will be needed vs better pass rushing teams. A few years ago there were alot of crossing patterns with rubs. CJ would be super on "Skov's" wheel routes!

Am I missing Sanford's influence in play design/calls? Comments welcome!

Sanford is part of the 'committee' that is involved in the play calling; he does not have sole responsibility or authority calling plays. There has been a higher use of the area between the hash marks

From the opening kick-off of this year, this is the best the offense has been prepared game in and game out. They actually look like they know what they are doing and seem to understand field position and plays that compliment the situation. Not sure why, hesitant to credit Kelly, so maybe Stanford has helped and influenced decision making and unit preparation.

Who do you think developed the notre dame playbook ? Fr Hesburgh ?

Who calls the plays ? Kelly

Kelly starts game w a play in mind QB checks out of it but takes too long for a delay of game -- see golson and rees - kelly's fault Sanford knows better - perfectly logical

Brain Kelly has coached for 25 yrs but he now is deferring to a 32 yr old to run the offense so that we don't get delay of game calls -- and sanford is now using the middle of the field which Kelly of course never did -- pathetic pursey pathetic

Brian Kelly does not know how to start a game offensively and does not use the middle of the field -- purse knows offense

internet at it's worst

ND is using the middle of the field because they have legit slot receivers in Hunter and Carlisle

Roby Toma not soo much

Alize Jones is a force ergo Kelly is using him on seam routes

As Fl Irish stated a few days ago Kelly has forgotten more about football than FL Ir a HS coach will ever know -- times that by 5 for the rest of the people on this board and times 100 for purse

Shame onHim for sending you here do do his work; win or put a sock in it!

Your clan may share ID's but the collective IQ's do not reach room temperature!

CBK is about as good a coach as the staff he assembles.

Welcome back Contiually ! I was wondering where you were ! Purse has been posting some crazy stuff while you were gone. Purse called Nick Martin the weak link of the Oline. We all know (besides Purse) that Nick Martin is the leader of the Oline that calls the Oline formations. He is back and huge and healthy--he is no weak link !

Bodi- Ski --

I'm on it

Given his last quote about Kelly being as good a coach as the staff he assembles I don't know if I want to go easy on him or get mid evil on his ass .

Ok here goes

So Kelly develops the playbook - calls the plays - hires the coaches -- finalizes all recruiting - signs off on all recruits - moves players around - see Procise

But Kelly is just an interesting observer -- hey nit wit a more accurate quote might be a coach goes as far as his players take him

I can't believe I'm lowering myself but to even respond to such gibberish but here goes

Sooo Sanford gets the credit for Kizer's throw - Denrock gets credit for Fuller's catch and Kelly gets credit for rooting them all on -- understood

Kelly to give coach of the year award in 2012 to Longo cause Longo carried him

I've noticed that ND is still attacking well into the end of the 4th quarter. In years past, ND would literally run the ball no matter what once the 2nd string entered the game. I'd like to think that's Coach Sanford imploring Coach Kelly to let the the back ups run the entire offense.

well, Kelly brought Sanford in to add offensive brain power; his addition obviously strengthens the staff; kudos to Kelly for being willing and open to those suggestions. Together they are better than their individual talents.

It's about football.

Yeah, I'm glad to see BW throwing the rock when he's in the game. No disgrace in letting your back-ups run up the score. If you're gonna bring them in then let them get the full flavor of the game.
