Lot's of factors to consider...
--The 2017 QB class seems very weak, 2018 might be packed
--Cleveland will probably draft someone at QB
--BK is back! EQSB, A. Jones, and K. Steph are going to rock next year.
--$$$
--Wimbush couldn't beat me out for the job in 2017, could he?!?

** I cannot type today. should be "Learning", not "leanning" on an NFL bench

I know the pundits are saying he should return to school, but I think with a weak QB class someone will fall in love with his measurables and take a shot at him. Probably in the late 1st round to early 3rd round at the latest. That might be a much better situation long term than being drafted by Cleveland, San Fran or some other poorly run franchise where your career arc will look like Brady Quinn's.

What's Brady Quinn doing now? DK needs more development before going to the grown man's league. For BW sake it would be better for Kiser to leave for the NFL.

Kelly is a QB killer. We all know DK hates Kelly. Go to the NFL kid!

Like every decision of this nature, 99% of it will come down to dollars and cents.

Will Kizer make more money leaving for the draft this year or next year?

One thing is certain: ND will be waaaaaaaaay better off if he returns in 2017!

Brandon Wimbush is a great looking talent in limited playing time ... but Kizer is one of the best players in the country and losing him is a big loss no matter how much delusional-Irish-fans try to spin his departure in a positive light.

The money part is a tricky question. Sliding in the draft helped Aaron Rogers and probably Russell Wilson in the long term. The 2nd QB contract is much more important under the rookie scale. BUT if you aren't destined to be a franchise-level QB, then the guarantees on the 1st round rookie deal is good.

I don't think Wimbush would beat Kizer out, but injuries happen and sometimes your back-up takes the reins and never looks back (ask Malik!).

There may be too much money on the table to ignore unless he just really wants to finish out his ND experience and play one more year. If that is what he wants to do, he has been awfully quiet.

He should return but he seems to be a slam dunk to go in the first two rounds and might even be a top ten pick.

Remember the advice that Niklas got. He was told to leave early to get to the second contract where he could negotiate bigger money. I scratched my head a bit but apparently the money is better approaching it that way.

There was also a take the bird in hand and get the money working for you earlier component to it.

One thing gives me hope. Right now we feel better about Wimbush than we felt about Kizer going into the 2015 season. How many people thought, "damn, we are toast" when Malik was laying on the field at Virginia? I know I did. And look how that turned out.

There is lso always the possibility of injury ! One good hitand good bye NFL dollars. Take the money and go NFL !

Kizer needs a ton of work. If he goes to a team that needs him to start right away it could be a disaster. With a little bit of improvement he could be a great NFL player because he has the physical skills to be great.

No, we don't all know that Kizer hates Kelly. You're speculating.

He might hate him, but he might like him. Unless somebody knows Kizer personally, it's all conjecture.

If I am Kizer I go to the draft. However he would be better served if he comes back. He needs another year in college.

If ND had a new/better coach I'd agree with you that he should stay.

I think it all depends on whether or not Kizer feels the staff can help him improve and reach his potential. If yes, then stay. If not, then leave. If he does leave, i hope he goes to a good QB coach/system and sits for a year.

I get away from Brian Kelly as fast as possible. Period.

Captain Kizer
That threw me for a loop. Motivating him to stay or did they discuss it with him first?

Has BK ever picked captains this soon? He had to clear it with admin first so he has planned it. Picking 7 suggests he wants motivation and accountability in the off season starting now.

I have a feeling the Kizer issue has not been reslved yet on returning.

Naming captains this early can only be viewed as BK is serious about getting back and track. These captains will be expected to keep the team motivated and out of trouble in the offseason stating now. I love this move!

Naming him a captain this soon means he REALLY wants Kizer to come back and is willing to throw anything on the table to make it happen.

Based on the mods and beat writers on TOS, who are with the program on a daily basis, there are very few players who dislike Kelly.

Quinn also had the misfortune to be with the Browns....no QB can survive that!

I don't think it's a "Kelly stunt" at all, but I will agree that the #1 jersey thing was forgettable and a bit silly.

I just reviewed a mock draft. There sure are a lot of teams that need a QB. I think he'd go in the first 45 picks (no later than the top of the 2nd round).

NFL coaches are cocky and think they can turn a prospect with great measurables into a winner.

my only thought on this is if he comes back he'll then have to compete with maybe the most talented QB on the team in Brandon Wimbush for the starting job and it is not a guarantee that he'll win over Wimbush

I don't know bk personally but if I am a player and see his arrogant ass on the sidelines, I would never want to play for this prick.
I would bet that most coaches are arrogant. They have "A type" personalities, or they would never get to where they are.

Do we want Kizer back ? I'm not so sure he even better than Wimbush. What happens to Wimbush ? does he leave ? Kizer looks like a great QB but that's it ... just looks the part and his poor record as the starting qb cannot be excused for a bad defense only.

You don't coach in major college or the NFL without having a serious ego. Not every coach wears it on his sleeve, but it's there nonetheless.

He needs to leave.. go to NFL and be mentored there.
Kelly will not be able to get him ready in 1 year. In fact next year don't be surprised if he is pulled because of his accuracy problems.
especially with Kelly fighting for his life every week...

Why is it that every QB under him just come unbutton and regress towards the end.
There is something about him that causes his..

Kelly doesn't build NFL QB's he destroys them....
That's the problem.. which Kizer sees.

I would be completely shocked if he comes back next year.
