It should be Gino Guidugli.

As a place holder.

To get an elite OC, you have to be willing to let that OC have some input on his staff. Heacock turned down the DC job over not being able to pick his own position coaches.

Give Guidugli one season to prove himself. It either works well, or you shake up the entire offensive coaching staff by bringing in a proven OC who is able to pick his own staff. Maybe he retains a couple of coaches like Deland McCullough and Mike Brown, though I expect McCullough will be moving on after next season with a promotion.

I hear you, but seems like we just did that this season with very mixed results.
Not really. Gerad Parker was not in a position to succeed because of the WR room. The staff is stabilized, as far as everyone on the staff has a long enough track record of winning that there shouldn't be any coaching issues. So, either Guidugli proves himself, or Freeman knows that it's time to start from scratch.

Heacock is also not known as an avid recruiter as well -- something Freeman wants in all his coaches

What are you talking about??? Two place holders, two years in a row?? Is MF incompetent? Is he stricken by some disability we're unaware of, where he is prevented, as the HC of ND football, the most prestigious brand in the history of American sports, and currently one of the richest... and he can't just take the bull by the horns and hire a kick-ass OC like anybody else would? He needs to hem and haw and bide his time and keep putting it off and putting it off... Until he's finally ready and all the ducks are in a row and he can gingerly, finally hire his own man?

If you can't get Denbrock, get out there and hire some other OC. Jesus H Christ....

Gerad Parker was a stop gap, not a place holder. The premise of the suggestion would be to prevent the start of an overhaul now

But, Denbrock is being hired, so it's a moot point.
