How are you and your staff going to prevent a bunch of 18-20 years olds from getting themselves involved in a let down for NCST?

Kelly brought them to 12-0 so he knows how to do it. I'm pretty sure they look it as the season started last saturday and they are 1-0. Need 5 more to get in post season play.

I guess some posters on this board think that NC St. is a great team now. Geeezz. If they cannot beat NC St at home Saturday, geeezzzz.

It doesn't matter if the Irish are playing St Mary's. The question stands. There is always a chance for a let down. Earlier today I questioned NCST also but that's not the point. Not sure two offensive linemen pancaking a USC D linemen is the answer either. I would just like to know how a real football HC is approaching this without all the HS rah rah stuff. Obviously, no one here knows either.

Why in Gods name would they suffer a letdown when they are playing a ranked NC State team at home with a chance to make the playoffs and NC State beat them last year so there is that motivation also. They are not idiots--they have heard about this being a trap game all year.

Kelly will tell them ' You know what is at stake men and they beat you last year"
NC State beat us last year--Let us get revenge !!

Well, if you think I'm the only one posing this question, you are wrong. You are dealing with 18-20 year olds who have had everyone tell them how great they are all week long. That's the noise coaches talk about. How will BK and the staff, and yes, the Captains, combat the noise? No one here knows, that's why I would ask the big guy himself. Maybe someone will ask him at the presser.

I watched some youtube of NC State. They aren't going to beat ND. This ND team isn't Furman or Marshall. For a trap game, I'm more worried about Navy. Game 5 of their season.

it's much harder to be a coach now than 20-30 years ago. the outside distractions are ridiculous. that said players are creatures of habit . keep the routine the same. go about your business in the same manner.

Hopefully, he reminds them that last year they were 4-8 -- every week ND must bring it best.

And, when they get to practice and review film, they are reminded of how much they still need to improve to be better...hopefully, that is what this staff is doing to keep them hungry.

Taken from today’s press conference with question and Kelly’s answer:

How do you combat complacency:
Our mission from day one is to win a national title. Whatever is being said, that's been our mission from day one. We don't have anything else to play for. Every game is a playoff for us. Our guys don't know any other way.

Sounds like credible advice to me.

The problem is with this fan. I am watching TV this week, reading the paper, and trying to go about MY daily routine, but my mind is on this Saturday. This knucklehead already had his gear packed Monday.
