Tommy Rees had more football acumen, poise and toughness than (Crist, Golson, Zaire, Kizer and Winbush) combined.

But in relation to big time College Football he had virtually zero talent. No foot speed, no arm strength. Yet he still has been far and away the best QB of the Kelly Era. Until now!!!

Ian Book can process information instantly and then has the brains and TALENT to make plays under duress. Brian Kelly is right...he is another Trace McSorley and thats a damn good QB right there!

It was VERY easy to see during the Citrus Bowl vs LSU that he should have been namd the starter for 2018.

Brian Kelly is easily one of the Top 5-10 coaches in the country. And you do not get there without confidence and ego.

He believed he could 'fix" Winbush with an off season and a training camp. Why? To keep a great athlete on the football field.

But after 3 sputtering inconsistent performances, Kelly & Long threw in the towel with BW. The 2 happiest men in South Bend are Brian Kelly & Chip Long....they finally have extension of themselves on the field and a QB who can take their brilliant Xs & O,s off the dry erase board and bring them to life on Saturday. GO IRISH!!!

Who knows really? There is only so much any coach can do, then the player has to take over physically and mentally.

Dayne Crist couldnt make it work with Brian Kelly or Charlie Weis

Golson couldnt make it work with Brian Kelly or Jimbo Fisher

Zaire couldnt make it work with Brian Kelly or Mcelwain

At some point players have to make things happen. Especially at QB.

I agree with everything you say, but the one category Book rules supreme over Wimbush is confidence. BW lacks it and it dictates his play. A college QB doesn't necessarily need to make the right read but if he plays with confidence it can trump those things. Book is a slinger, very confident kid and he plays that way.
