get credit for turning the defense around, keep the recruiting class together, feel vindicated, and announce his plans to step down at season's end before taking the team to a bowl win to seal his ND coaching career. I think this may be the only scenario where he's not the coach next season. Of course, this would require some negotiating between Kelly and Jack on some modified buyout akin to a severance package. Kelly saves face, goes out a winner, moves on to behind a mic, and ND has momentum, saves money, makes the alumni happy, and they can aggressively go after some stud head coach early in the coach hunting cycle. Don't wake me up!

I want the players to win out. It's all about the players who have shed blood, sweat, and tears over this football thing. They earned our support and I will give them 100% support. I got to thinking how many possible job opening there will be next season (LSU, Texas, USC) and wondered how ND would fit in with all these openings. I beginning to think BK stays. All these mentioned programs and ND would all be going for the same guy(s).

Why do you want the awful Brian Kelly to stay? Tell me why. I want to know!

You make a lot of sense. Problem is, Jack has no sense. He still likes Kelly. If Kelly wins just 2 more games, he will be back.
might get an additional contract extension.

No way Jack is astute enough to do and see what needs to be done.

Ski, I honestly think there are only two scenarios where Kelly is not the HC next year. The team loses the rest of the games and gets blown out in each and quits on the Kelly, or the win out scenario where Kelly decides to call it quits. I prefer the later. Unfortunately, agree with your view that the most likely scenario is a couple more wins and Kelly limps into next season.

If he wins out they might give him an extension.

Good sir, I would much like to enjoy a small sample of what you are smoking. Please, and thank you.
