#1 QB, #1 OT's, and top TE ?I see Stanford has 3 5 star commits (rivals). Maybe the Irish can get just 1? Hoping the overall coaching and schemes will be better this year.

they did very well.
they have a total of 3 defensive recruits, and not one of them is ranked above 3 stars... If ND recruited like that, we'd never hear the end of how unbalanced ND's class is, or how ND will never win anymore games because they don't recruit like Alabama on defense.
Peers with LSU and USC? Why are they grouped in with Bama and OSU? Weird. The other three you mentioned, it takes sacrificing in areas where ND will not, and should not sacrifice to be their peers on the football field. I'm okay with ND not being a peer with those classless institutions for the sake of luring a 18 yr old football player at all costs. Get a grip. This is the kind of hyperbole we have to get past in order to have a real conversation about the subject.
Nobody claims that ND can't win games without recruiting like Bama on defense. However, ND admins, analysts, fans, etc. need to stop looking the other way and pretending that it's ok that other prominent programs are hoarding the best athletes in the country while ND is on the outside looking in.
By any metric available, by and large, a program is capped based on the level of talent they are able to attract on the recruiting trail. ND should aspire to be more than Stanford, or MSU, or some other Cinderella program that lucks into the postseason/bcs once or twice a decade with middling talent.
Notre Dame should be peers with the Bama's, OSUs, USCs, FSUs, LSUs of the world .. not looking up to them with a roster half as talented/deep/balanced as theirs.
Football is a de facto 'major' offered at some universities; those that set national prominance as a priority value. Football is not a major offered at ND. It is first a value judgement.
You're right and I'm glad that ND chooses to keep it that way.
Ok then .. don't cry / call for the coaches head when ND can't win more than 8 regular season games and have another postseason-less season

In '17, ND has UGA, Stanford, USC
In '18 ND has UM, FSU, Stanford, and USC
has anyone noticed how the recruiting has gone for these future opponents?
X2The Sewing Circle is convinced David Shaw walks on water so playing 4 QB's simultaneously would not be a problem.
If Shaw stopped short DIPpy Doo's head would be lodged in his lower intestine. He and cgvr have taken jock sniffing and rear end kissing to a new level!!
