I have been informed that Notre Dame will join the Big10 in Hockey

I'm not much of a hockey guy, dislike it more than I do basketball. But don't the Irish and the Wolverines play a hockey match here soon for something important?

So another sport for ND to beat up Meatchicken in

haha. Your inferiority complex never ceases to amaze. ND joining the Big Ten in hockey is probably not as big of a story as it appears at first blush. Prior to the B1G adding hockey, didn't ND, UM and others play in CCHA? BigTen hockey (I believe) only has 6 teams, so it is looking to grow. Hockey East is not a great fit for ND because of travel expenses. And, yes, the Big Ten does permit affiliation for non-major sports as best evidenced by its admitting Johns Hopkins to men's lacrosse last year.

As for on the field stuff, credit ND for winning most recently in FB and MBB. But if I'm not mistaken in past 6 appearances for both sports UM is 4-2. Plus, we have Harbaugh and you have jelly belly KeLLLy. So there's that.....

Sincerely yours,

Another junior high post. Whatever schadenfreude has is contagious.

I will take BK thanks. Nice punt vs MSU.

This really is a change in philosophy from the Big Ten from their hard-line stance before. My guess is they saw what ND has with the ACC & said to themselves "maybe it isn't the worst thing in the world."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think ND's arrangement with the ACC ends somewhere in the '25-'28 range. Do any of you see ND going to a similar arrangement with the Big Ten when that runs out? Or stick with the ACC? I guess I've read multiple pros & cons with each (ACC: more private institutions, like-minded, etc vs. B10: closer proximity, reduce travel, perhaps more rivalries, etc.).

Hockey-wise: I think it's a no brainer. ND didn't like the travel to Hockey East. They boost the B10 hockey conference instantly, and traditional games with old CCHA foes are renewed, plus Minnesota & Notre Dame have played quite a bit recently.

You live in Romulus. Nuf said. I take it you were around in 1905? Talk about having a complex. Michigan will always be second fiddle to ND. That's why you're here.

No Way on God's Green Earth! -- I do not see the BIG taking ND with the same arrangement they have with the ACC. Hockey is one thing (do not see many schools south having hockey teams) -- WAY TOO MUCH $$$ with Football and Basketball to miss out on.

Until about a week ago, I would agree with you, but recently being open to taking an affiliate athletic member like Notre Dame, where there's definitely some history & bad blood between the two, makes me think that maybe the times are a changin....

*You're.

One would assume that an "ND/Michigan grad" would know the difference in your and you're.
Well I use the King's English, I suppose you were taught the basic street version of English which is usually taught in the lower end of overcrowded city schools.. Not your choice because of your family's money problems when you were young or even now......

Checked it out and there may be some truth to this. I thought the Big 10 would never agree to this if ND didn't join for all sports.
And the courting begins.

There will be alot a of suitors, but I also believe the ND admin might be putting feelers out if full member conference ties are nessessary all spectulation of coarse.
