Charlie Weis and Brian Kelly proved you can get excellent recruits to come to ND and Charlie came pretty close to getting ND to a NC game in 2005 and Brian Kelly got us to a National Championship game in 2012.
When Brian Kelly and staff worked their butts off to get three 5 star dlineman (Aaron Lynch, Stephan Tuitt, and Ishaq Williams) in one recruiting class combined with getting Dline studs like Jarron Jones and Sheldon Day the next year it also showed that the Irish can get a quality defense with a new exciting coach and aggressive recruiting.
The Irish will get a new exciting coaching staff that is going to win some games and recruit their asses off and maybe even take the Irish to the next level where Kelly could not take us.
So I am going to enjoy the Irish basketball team and enjoy the rumors going around the football team and am going to be amped up for the new coach and a new direction.
I will also be excited when Notre Dame decides to join the ACC-- keep USC, Navy and Stanford or split those games up to every other year or something.
I believe we will join the ACC and think that will be a big step in making Notre Dame great again. Bypass the independence tradition and begin a WINNING football tradition.
A lot of Irish fans talk about the Irish not having an identity---playing in a conference and playing for conference championships forces you to have an identity. And gives something for the players to focus on besides taking down Alabama for the NC.

Watch the tackle at the 47 second mark... That's shades of your upstate NY glory days....

I'm very worried about the short term of the program. I think we will se recruits get cold feet and jump ship. If Kelly is out, its time to move on fast.

How great were Ross Browner / Willie Fry / and Luther Bradley - the great ole days of ND football.

Great clip from that 73 game vs. SC. Had two brothers on the sideline that game. 1 on the team (never played) and another - a 15 year old H.S. Freshmen who was sneeked in threw the locker room w/ his cousin by football managers and they watched from the sideline.

I was just a little kid back at home and it was when I first started watching ND football.

Loved Ara - greatest coach we had in the modern era. Petersen from Wa. reminds of Ara. His mannerisms, his personality, etc. And most importantly the way he coaches his team. Does it w/ class and his players love playing for him. His team is fundamentally sound like Ara's ND teams.

ND's football identity has always been forged by the current coach. Other football programs seem set on a certain course and seldom waiver. ND has never been that way. Like you I'm going to set back in Irish comfort and watch ND basketball. I'm tired of howling at the moon. Nobody's listening anyways. I'm not even excited about NSD this year and that's saying something Bodi. I am hoping for a better crop of coaching candidates next year. I think we'll be looking for one then. I see little hope in 2017. See you around man!

Bodi, I have not been a fan of the idea of joining the ACC mostly because I am enamored with the tradition of being independent, and I hold dear the fact I am able to watch every game weekly on network TV. That said, the football landscape has dramatically changed with the consolidation of conferences and huge TV conference TV contracts, and the process for selecting the National Champion. I have reluctantly arrived at believing ND football would be better served joining the ACC. A yearly schedule that includes Florida State and Miami and Clemson and USC and Stanford sounds pretty exciting; and the goal of winning your conference is a hell of a lot more attainable than the NC, which practically speaking ends with one loss if playing as an independent.

The contractual details are being worked out. This nightmare will be ending soon and by this Sunday night you will know the new head coach. P.J. Fleck and a new golden era for ND. So I wish...

I have lost all faith in the people in charge of ND. I won't be watching any game live next year. ND is done with being an elite program. Twenty plus years . Even I can take a hint.

A number of months back I watched the 77 southern cal game. It is on YouTube. It's worth the watch....
