ND is what it is now and I or a thousand people who loved this Institution will not change it . At one time Jacques Maritain,Jean Vanier , John Osterle Taught there. Today we only see 'Rain bow Warriors'.

This message board has become pure trash. Sad as it was my favorite......it now is full of trash......and hate.....and even worse......cowards.

^ tad extreme and to the point; but a bit of truth to that. But, it is apparently the forum that the current inhabitants want; many have just thrown up in there mouths and left.

Why are you insulting the University of Hawaii - the Warriors are a cool team and what a great place to play.

Perse.....I often disagree with you.....in fact your opinions often infuriate me....but that is just because they differ so much from my way of thinking.....but you provide insight and while I do not agree with what you write.....I always read it. The sad fact is we have lost some real good posters for a bevy of reasons.....35.....IIO.....coach.....and they have been replaced with adults that have yet to achieve emotional maturity.

capt:
if everyone agreed with me - there would be no point to being here. Aside from the 'clan' and their Bit#$ Bodi; there are a still few posters who will listen to a point and make counter point: like a real grown up dialog or information exchange. There have been many a discussion that altered my opinion on a subject.

And - the Ole Coach is recovering so pray for a good report when he returns!

As someone who graduated from ND in the 21st century, I had not only a wonderful experience there, but also a wonderful Catholic experience there.

If you wish to no longer support the University, I doubt there will be any tears shed.

You really need to take a break from this board. Please do so.

I never went to school at ND but I do know this with 100% certainty. Every single time I walk on that campus, game day or off season, rain or shine (or snow), I feel that the campus is blessed and someone honestly tell me they can't feel it too. It can't be described. You feel it. It can make a grown man weep and I have been going to that beautiful place since the late 1950s. I , myself, am very blessed to live only an hour away straight west on the tollway so I can go to ND campus just for the heck of it during the off season. All this board bickering and posturing means nothing. None of it matters from any of us, but, walking that campus.......that is part of the real joy of life IMHO. On game day, I'm one of the first ones in the White Lot in the morning and one of the last to leave afterward. Just because.

I'm an atheist who attended ND and never felt that "blessed" feeling, on game days or otherwise. What I did find, however, was a student body and faculty who have integrity and a thirst for knowledge and kindness. One of my favorite stories happened during my first year of law school. I was talking to a friend who was a law student at UM. I mentioned that if I went off to dinner and left my notes on my table at the library, I knew that I would come back and they would still be there. Someone might have come by and copied them but that wasn't a problem. This friend stared at me in amazement and said that if he left his notes unattended, even for five minutes, they would be gone and he would never see them again. The competitiveness at Michigan overwhelmed any sense of honesty and integrity.

ND is a great school for numerous reasons. It is not perfect but it is clearly one of the best schools out there. I found both teachers and fellow students who welcome debate on religion and social issues. They understood that one learns by understanding conflicting points of view. They don't refuse to listen but, rather, listen and try to counter. I knew many who disagreed with the Church's teachings and struggled with how to apply them to their own personal code of conduct. These people did not, however, ever resort to name-calling (i.e. Benito's Rain Bow Warriers) and accepted the fact that people can have differences of opinion and still be respectful. This is not being PC. This is being a product of ND.

No one who is a regular should be a moderator because any dissenting opinion from that "moderator" who is also a board regular would find that dissenting opinion in the cornfield faster than the speed of light. You need an impartial mod who really has no connection to ND. Someone who is completely apathetic to all of our crybaby whims. Someone who would jettison the first person who uses a personal attack on another contributor. All we heard in the past were warnings and empty threats. Pointing fingers at other board members will not solve the problem. An outside source will. I'd be willing to bet my end zone seats that none of us would talk to each other this way if we were at one huge tailgate together.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't like me at the tailgate either jack. But if I were there with my woman, Hope Solo, then you would fear me.

Go Irish!
