and we could not convert .Some where in the fourth quarter ,the announcers mentioned that ND was 1 of 11 in third down conversions . strength of this team is in the offensive line ,so in key situations ,Virginia stacked the line of scrimmage preventing 1st downs .Prosise had a great game running ,Zaire 's passing was a little off .It seemed Virginia knew what we were going to do..Kelly relied too much on our offensive line in the short yardage plays.

Who is calling most of the plays , Kelly or the offensive coordinator ? Awful job . By the way ,I'm not sure about that winning 39 yard touched pass .It seemed to me that we wanted to get in field goal range and the throw by Deshone Kizer to Fuller was not the first option .Kizer does have an arm..

Another point ,our defense particularly the line was worn out in the 4 th quarter . Wonder how we overcome this against Georgia Tech's ball control and 400 yard running attack

If ND passed it on short yardage plays and did not convert, I guarantee you and a few others would be crying about how we have a great offensive line and Kelly didn't trust it.

When they outnumber you in the box and everyone is squeezing it's tough to run inside.

I thought speed sweep was a possibility or a PA pass but those are feast or famine plays.

Virginia did a great job confusing Zaire; plus his throwing reverted to normal. (Lost in the Texas win was how many times he threw behind his receivers.)

I really thought if we stayed healthy, we could be a 10-2 team boing into the bowl game. Now I think we will struggle to get above .500.

In five previous seasons, Kelly has shown the only thing he develops in quarterbacks is neurosis.

As is the situation in football: it comes down to defense. The problem is not QB!

Now, not stating, nor taking credit for some genius revelation here, but BVG is the 'weakest link'! Sure he is charismatic and interesting but damn the guys coaching approach is abysmal.
(note: smart coach would have pulled an ineffective overmatched Joe S yesterday; even the obvious escapes BVG) Paul Johnson is salvating at the prospect of lining up vs a BVG defense!
ND fans: prayers are needed!

Solution:
Ok, we have the next "UM young hot kid coach" for the offense; Kelly by his own admission got his start in coaching on the defensive side of the ball! "Hey Coach Kelly! the defense NEEDS YOU,"
Step up, take control and responsibility for the defense! else the season is lost.

^ and what will you do next week? ND fans are discussing the events of the game.
ND fans feel elation of having escaped disaster! If a 5th grader beats up on a 1st grader and after a tough battle finally succumbs the tike, does he jump up fist pumping? Or does he reflect on his debacle and forward thinking decisions?
