Input from Gabe is always welcome. One thing is certain. I am better than any GM or scout at projecting QB's to the NFL. I'm joking but not really. Here is the list of QB's drafted in the 1st round since 2000. Most are complete busts and it has always made me wonder just what exactly do scouts see or look for when evaluating QB's? Obviously arm strength is one but the fact they miss a hell of a lot more than hit is a little mind bottling.
2000- Chad Pennington: Nice career
2001- Mike Vick: Flashes, Pitbulls, Unfulfilled
2002- David Carr: Decent. Beyond awful line.
Joey Harrington: Bust
Patrick Ramsey: Bust
2003- Carson Palmer: I would say hit but maybe not for #1 overall
Byron Leftwhich: Bust
Kyle Boller: Bust
Rex Grossman: Bust
2004- Eli Manning: Overrated by Giants fans but all in all not bad
Phillip Rivers: Hit
Ben Roethlisberger: Hit
JP Losman: Who?
2005- Alex Smith: While not dominating and certainly not #1 he is carving out a nice career
Aaron Rodgers: No explanation needed. Best QB in the NFL
Jason Campbell: Bust
2006- Vince Young: Massive Bust
Matt Leinart: See Above
Jay Cutler: Up for debate but certainly not a bust
2007- Jamarcus Russell: Obviously a bust but is he worse than Leaf?
Brady Quinn: Was never given a fair . . . . . . BUST!
2008- Matt Ryan: Good. But with the weapons he has had?
Joe Flacco: Good. SB winner but contract is a little much
2009- Matt Stafford: Good. Has had the luxury of having Megatron but guy is talented
Mark Sanchez: Despite two straight AFC Championships that the defense led them to. . . . Bust
Josh Freeman: Bust
2010- Sam Bradford: Jury is still out but injury prone points to being a bust
Tim Tebow: Where to go here? A blind kid could have told you bust
2011- Cam Newton: Hit.
Jake Locker: The first of 3 straight head scratchers in this class
Blaine Gabbert: Head Scratch #2
Christian Ponder: And #3
2012- Andrew Luck: Can't miss right? No brainer here
Robert Griffin: Jury still out but it's looking like a disaster
Ryan Tannenhill: If there was ever a QB I thought would fail but has thrived and will only get better?
Brandon Weeden: 28 year old bust
2013- EJ Manual: Bust. He's from FSU
2014- Blake Bortles: TBD. But potential is obvious
Johnny Manziel: As far as I was concerned this was up there with Tebow
Teddy Bridgewater: TBD. Could see him leveling off rather quickly
