I understand the Frost move as they wanted to see what the team would look like with his 2nd QB.

Didn’t wanna waste time moving on and finding a new candidate. Who knows why ASU moved on quickly? Perhaps an arms race for the next guy..
Once there's enough PRECEDENT, it's quickly the NEW NORMAL.
I think in no time at all, it WILL BE THE NEW NORMAL.
And particularly for those coaches who operate more in CEO mode.
In this regard, I was surprised to hear Mike Goolsby yesterday say outright that Freeman wasn't hired "like BIll Walsh for his X's and O's," but to RECRUIT.
See, I would have hired a PROVEN COACH and given Freeman a MONETARY BUMP/LATERAL REASSIGNMENT to RECRUITING COORDINATOR.
The "good news" about Freeman is that you can "decapitate" a program and still keep it going A LOT EASIER if the coach YOU JUST FIRED WASN'T THE SMARTEST FOOTBALL GUY IN THE ROOM. Which I don't believe Freeman is. Based on his record in all aspects of his career to date.
But, for RESULTS PURPOSES, I still prefer Kelly's to Freeman's. I DO want the HEAD COACH to be the SMARTEST FOOTBALL GUY IN THE ROOM. And not just a RELATIONSHIP MANAGER which is in large part what a "RECRUITER" is.
Faust, too, was an OUTSTANDING RECRUITER. THREE #1 classes and another, ranked 7th in the program's history.
There's SELLING, and there's COACHING.

Herm Edwards and staff are involved in an NCAA investigation. He also just lost to Eastern Michigan.
Why? If they land Meyer, they'll end up with a better recruiting class.
Urban was always destined for ND. What if that plane ride captured him and we did not settle for Ty.
Meyer's not coming to ND. Freeman will get 5 years and Meyer will be winning championships somewhere in College Football.
Very good chance he goes there. He can’t do the big time job anymore and the NFL is toast. If UM takes a job it’s A S U
ASU facing sanctions is one of the reasons he was fired. Little chance he goes there. No chance he goes to ND although I am sure we would like to. Freemen is locked in for three years. If Urban stays out that long he probably won't be back. If he doesn't he will be at another program.

This is perfect, we just fire MF, assuming we go like, 5-7 or worse, which is still very possible/probable. And then just hire Urban Meyer. Everybody wins!
That would be so incredibly awesome to watch the ND fanbase go through a saga like that. The chagrin, and just the straight up humiliation of seeing ND"s fortunes utterly collapse without BK.... And then all of a sudden, like something out of a dream, Urban Meyer is able to finally become ND football coach. That would be frickin' awesome!!!

It's certainly possible Freeman could end up with a shit record, almost of worthy of firing, according to one's disposition about such things. And it's equally possible Urban could be sitting right there, looking for a miracle.....
He'd be all humbled and chastened, with hat in hand, finally ready like he's the prodigal season to be football coach for ND. It'd be PERFECT.....
I doubt Meyer coaches again. He seems burned out from coaching. He's already resigned from two teams because he was burned out.
After the debacle in Jacksonville he needs to save face. He needs to restore his legacy. He'll coach again.
Had he not made himself look bad time after time, he’d be that guy (like BK for LSU), that ND would’ve gotten desperate enough to offer him so much he couldn’t refuse. We’ll get there within the next few years when the current Freeman fans become his biggest haters as he literally embarrassed ND worse than Weis. But it won’t be Meyer. It’ll be someone else bc Meyer is a tool, sadly.
It's not like he was stuffing his face at a recruit's home and selling some spin while negotiating his own exit on his cell phone !
True. I am all for forgiveness. I'd take Meyer, but I know ND wouldn't.
I really like winning but I don't want Meyer anymore. He's just not a good person. Forgiveness is fine but you don't want him representing the university.
I’d take Kelly back before I would even think of taking Meyer. No fing way do I want Meyer.
BK is a good guy. The idea that in addition to being some shitty, mediocre football coach, that he's also a bad guy, some sort of bad actor on the CFB scene.... is the most reprehensible and absurd bit of BK bashing of the whole lot.
And that's not a matter of opinion. There's no actual flesh and blood reality where BK is some bad human being. That's just haters hatin'.... and slandering him, looking for any kind of mud they can throw at him....
My friends in Florida can't stand Meyer, despite all the winning he did there for the Gators. But no doubt he's a great college coach.

I'm not sure what would constitute being a 'bad person' as a CFB coach. I guess completely lying to and betraying your players. Running them off the team, at least in a particularly sort of capricious and self-serving fashion, playing them while they're hurt with no concern for their health. Having no concern for their general well-being or academic fortunes, and just blatantly using them and chewing them up and spitting them out....
Maybe continuously breaking the rules, whatever the rules might be in a give context, left and right. Being sort of lawless in how you run your program, protecting your players from any sort of justice, if the players are slapping women around, or behaving otherwise unacceptably bad or criminally out in the world. That sort of thing....

Meyer would 100% win a championship at ND. BK is scum too, but he doesn't have any championships to merit being scum.
