Why ND is where we (they) are at and teams like OSU and Alabama play for the National Title every year....

I was looking at the Rivals TOP 100 players and saw that of the the current crop of 5 stars (of which there are 30) 9 of them (almost a third) are committed to either of those two schools..Clemson has its own share as well...

So 3 out of the 4 current playoff teams have committed 5 star players..EVERY YEAR....Look recruiting matters ...Clemson landed 2 stud 5 star DTs in last years crop, and their defense is awesome this year....

ND needs some quality DL players...and realistically our recruiting (not to mention our coaching) just isn't on par with the big boys.....

With the right coaching 10-11 win seasons are not a stretch! Wisconsin does it consistently with less star ratings. That tells me all i need to know.

If you expect us to recruit like Bama and OSU its not going to happen. What we can do is recruit for depth. We get a Manti and a Jaylon once every 5 years or so where Bama and OSU get them every year. What I do think we can do is make a run once every 4 or 5 years expecting anything else might be a stretch.
