Obviously, the reasons for a thread being locked often suggest that the key is to be thrown away, but I'm wondering if there's ever been a precedent for a thread to be unlocked. Seems like there should be a procedure in place for a redress of grievances. This is just a general observation and not made in regard to any current thread that has been locked.
