11-1. We beat OSU ... Lose to Clemson..... I really dont wanna explain how i got here but......id hate to be OSU coming into Saturday.. former alumni as head coach, gigantic chip on their shoulder after bowl game...... Extreme dogs ..... As a former coach, id rather be in ND's shoes and not ohio states........

I agree this 17 1/2 point dogs is crazy . These two teams are relatively even. Our D is better but there offense is little better at first blush . If Buchner has matured he is extremely talented to begin with it will be a close game . I like our chances since we have the element of surprise

There is a major contradiction going on here, if you are listening to the media. On one hand....this game is advertised as "The" marquis game...a "monster" game...."huge playoff implications"..."The" game of the first weekend of college football...on and on. On the other hand,...ND is 17 1/2 point dogs? Consider which other teams might also be 17 1/2 point dogs to OSU, say, IU, Kansas State or Rutgers...and then add Notre Dame? So, what other teams would be 17 1/2 point dogs AND a "marquis matchup"? I can't think of a single one. The whole thing is weird.

If we beat Ohio state and lose to Clemson we will be outta of the playoffs. We lose to osu and beat Clemson we’re in. Losing mid or late season is not good . Need to keep the osu game close. Jmo

Not sure the former alumni helps ND much, tOSU knows as much about him and he does about OSU.

Would be highly unlikely losing late. Of course much would depend on how the other contending teams seasons were playing out. Tell me ND will end the season at 11-1 I'd prefer the loss to be early on every time.
I went on espn cfp playoff predictor and with an 11 and 1 season with a loss to Clemson we'd have over a 90 percent chance to still make the playoff. So not highly unlikely.

You're not taking into account what other teams might or might not be. What if osu goes 12 and 1 with 1 loss only to us. Thats a hell of a win. What if SC is a 10 or more won team and pac champ and we beat them at SC. What if BYu is a 10 win team and we beat them etc. Etc

Its not highly unlikely though. 11 and 1 if our schedule is tough we'd be in good shape

It's not weird. On the one hand, you got Vegas bookies, concerned only about dollars and cents. And they set their line accordingly. And on the other you have the expected banal media hype, of two top teams squaring off in the season opener. And there's nothing weird about either of those things, or their coexistance, in the lead-up to the big game....
