I know a lot of you like me are - or have been, big supporters of EG.

I was so high on this young guy. I expected greatness. A Heisman maybe.

But it came unglued. He would flirt with my support for him with dazzling feats like against Pitt in 2012.

He would disappoint like his disappearing act in 2013. He would hit Koyack or Daniels in the end zone to win against Stanford and MSU. He was damn good. He would put the ball on the ground like a Pop Warner kid for 6 games straight in 2014. He was damn bad.

Damn that he is leaving. Good that he is leaving.

It is the best for him and for ND. The only negative is we are a little thin. But he needed a change. And honestly, after the Spring game -- I was having visions of him getting passes knocked down this Fall. Maybe interceptions. maybe ball control issues. Maybe greatness. Maybe a benching. Too many maybes..

Whether accurate or not, I will always fault Kelly for making him play in the pocket. EG is a natural roll out guy. Some guys, like horses, are best when free to roam. He was like that. In the pocket he could be money --- or he could have passes knocked down or his vision downfield obscured resulting in an int. He needed to just be himself. But he was restrained.

His leaving is the best decision for a guy who deserves the best. He gave his all for ND. He made mistakes. He did not achieve what many thought he could. But I will take what he gave us.

Damn he is leaving. Damn he was good. Damn he was bad. Damn he will be missed. Good -- as in good luck EG.

Next QB in!!!! MZ will do great! Kizer & Wimbush will battle to be his backup...though I hope they are not needed. Van Gorder is more than a walkon option too.

Don't forget that Golson did his best for about half of the Pitt game in 2012 to lose it. And it was the one time Tommy Rees could not bail him out.

As to Kelly trying to force Golson into a pocket passer is just typical of his incompetent coaching. They really should make him stay 10 yards away from every quarterback on the roster.

I'm still pissed at Golson for bailing because he can be very good and he would have been an asset this year. And no, he's not going to make it in the NFL wherever he plays this year.

Are these your opinions or do you have reliable sources to back up your statements that these are true facts?

Some fans wanted Tommy out and EG in. Then, they wanted EG out and Tommy back in. Then they celebrated EG after FSU. Then, they wanted EG out and MZ in. It won't take much for some fans to want MZ out and "fill in the blank" in. Some fans will soon remember the day EG said "see ya" and left the program with no insurance policy against a running QB who is going to take hits.......many hits this season. MZ is yet an untested inexperienced QB. He simply cannot outrun his guardian angel during the 2015 season. If he does, it could be problematic.
