Who will have the best first year leading ND's offense? (EG and DK led our best years under BK.)

Soph. Golson in 2012 (12-1) (12td, 6int.)
Soph. Kizer in 2014 (10-3) (21td, 10int)
Junior Wimbush in 2017 ???????

'12 EG (12): 187 318 58.8% 26.5 2405 7.6 200.4 12 6 50 15 -90 131.0
'15 DK (13): 211 335 63.0% 25.8 2884 8.6 221.8 21 10 81 23 -139 150.0

Pretty clear Golson's team won with their defense while Kizer's was about the offense.
Long's offense portents a higher completion rate, more runs?

Thoughts? (I'm tired of the political talk and want to talk ND football.)

Recruiting stats (fyi)

Golson 3*/RR-5.7/16th dual threat
Kizer 4*/RR-5.8/9th dual threat
Wimbush 4*/RR-6/4th dual threat
(heir apparent?)
Jurkovec 4*/RR-5.9/5th dual threat

Stu, I like the total Wimbush package, both on and off the field. Seems to have great leadership skills which are a large part of the intangibles that often separates good from great. He has a strong arm, just as Golson and Kizer do. Not sure he'll be as accurate as Golson on mid range passes or as accurate as Kizer on the long ball, but perhaps better than both with overall accuracy. His running seperate him from both, and the added flexibility of his ability to run read pass Option football should differentiate. All that said, we don't know how he'll perform in live action and the pressure that comes with being the starting QB at ND. I just hope he is able to make his progressions timely, make good decisions, get rid of the ball quick enough, and avoid costly interceptions. As for an out of the a** prediction, I'll say 26 tds in 13 games with 8 interceptions.

Well I guess I'm going with Wimbush!!

add Kizer as first year starter in 2017, as he was just named starter with the Browns today. Who will have a better year - Kizer or Wimbush??

Hopefully, the Browns know what they're doing (we all know they don't), as I would have liked to see him carry a clipboard for a year or two and grow into a starter as opposed to being thrown to the wolves this year. But the Browns are starting to stockpile talent on their roster, so maybe they surprise a few folks this year.

What he really needs is one of the RB's or WR's to step up and have a big year to take some pressure off himself. Easier said then done I know, but their schedule isn't that tough and hopefully he stays healthy too.

Golson had the luxury of an outstanding defense.

If whoever the ND QB is keeps turnovers to a minimal I would think that would make him a good candidate for one of the best of the three

I think with Long's emphasis on running the ball... Wimbush may have a higher completion rate but less yardage than Kizer in the air.

I hope BW plays a few years and if so he will be the best of the 3. But nobody will ever break Everett's consecutive completion record. That was something to watch. What would have been had he stayed....

People may disagree with me, but I think we have been blessed at the QB position for some time now. Golson, Zaire, Kizer, now Wimbush (Hopefully he is just as good).

We had some rough years in there after Clausen left with Rees and Crist.

Red jersey gone. No whistles. Gloves are off. BW will be on the loose. He 's ready. The OL is ready. Stable of RBs that will keep DC's awake at night. Let's do this.
