If true looks like a move to a 20 team conference. Also, only two free games? I hope SC verses Notre Dame survives.
I think you are right, except the SEC plays a eight game conference schedule and leaves room for four tomato can games. They claim that's fair because the league games are so tough. With a ten game schedule yu0 only have two free games to schedule.Trying to take further advantage of the SEC model. Get a lot of hype, claim 7-8 teams in top 25, have them play each other and tell all how difficult the schedule is…
oh, and when they lose in post season, claim it’s due to lack of interest

It would coincide with going to twenty teams. Not a big concern. If the Big 10 does go to a 10 game schedule, it does not appear imminent.

Gene Smith: Big Ten In Talks to Eliminate Divisions, Will Schedule Future Conference Games Less Than A Year In Advance
Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith says the Big Ten is in talks to eliminate divisions and that it will no longer schedule conference games more than a year in advance.www.elevenwarriors.com
It’s also possible, Smith said, that the Big Ten could eventually increase its conference game schedule from nine games to 10 games. Although Smith said he would prefer a decrease to eight conference games, that is no longer an option because of the inventory that has been promised to FOX, CBS, NBC and Peacock in the new TV deal. But he believes the Big Ten will have conversations about the possibility of a 10-game conference schedule.
“We’ll probably talk about 10 again,” Smith said. “That's always been talked about. There's a couple of ADs, they want to go to 10, they will talk about it. But no, we haven't made that decision.

In a 16 team conference you would have a 3-6-6 system with 3 protected rivals and alternate playing 6 teams one year and 6 other teams the next year. That way you'd play every team in the conference every 2 years and every 4 year player would be able to visit every stadium in the conference.I am curious about protected rivalries with 16 teams. How many per team? 0-3 are possible.
I call it the f*ck michigan tour. After the tumultuous cancellation of the UM contract, he scheduled Oklahoma Texas UGA OSU A&M as a finger wave that we are the true national brand in CFB.I thought the ND/UGA games in 2017 and 2019 were great for the sport. Although ND lost both, they were close and well-played. Would love to see us sign up for another home and home with UGA.
ND does have a home and home scheduled with A&M for 2024-2025.
Yep, if you read between the lines, that sure looks like where they're goingIt would coincide with going to twenty teams.
The 20 team thing assumes ND is one of them.Yep, if you read between the lines, that sure looks like where they're going
