I give TB12 credit for the game winner to Mitchell Evans. He didn’t let the pick 6 on the goal line get in his head. He could have unraveled after that but he didn’t. He drove his team down the field and secured the game winner! Props to the entire offense for bouncing back from a crushing turnover.

Everyone loves that pass call but not the one on the previous drive. Success has many fathers but failure is an orphan.
They were running with authority. It’s 1st down with a 7 point lead. Worst case scenario up by 10 with time on the Irish side. I thought it was a very poor call. Run the ball 3X & eat the clock. I think SC had 2 time outs left.

He definitely showed resilience

To me last night showed he’s not ready to be the man in 23 but he has a chance to be it in 24

That would be a huge mistake. He would take another step backwards. Another lost year of reps. You give him 10 months and 3 games to get ready for OSU.

You’d say thanks but no thanks to Hartman?
No. I take Hartman because we need insurance regardless.

I let them compete. I don't give the job to anyone.

But if it's me, I'm leaning towards Buchner because of the 3 game stretch we have to start the year. That's 3 games we win no matter who the qb is. So I'm going with the guy I think has the higher upside against the top teams. For me, that's Buchner.

Others may disagree but that's what I would plan on doing

Obviously you havent watched Hartman play

Lets also give Mitcheel Evans some credit. He really sold the play by getting intensley into blocking and then went out uncovered for the Easy TD.

And if ND SCORED.. it would have been brilliant... success has many fathers! Failure is an orphan! (Stole that)😁

It was an incredibly stupid schemed play. From jump street it was just bad. The motion was bad and dear God why not just go the 50-50 route? It was very reminiscent of the Seahawks-Patriots Super Bowl ending but thank God ND for another chance.

Difference between a game winning drive and a drive where you are up by 7 halfway through the 4th.
Right. Situational football dictates that that was the wrong pass (never mind wtf are we even passing atm?) at that moment. Much less it was first down and the fumbling around with the presnap motion made it blatantly obvious that a pass play was called. Just a hot mess of simple situational football instead of taking the slam dunk.

They didn’t need to call such a risky pass, a different pass with more options and easier read would have worked… they tried to force td to Evans
I seem to remember it was a WR covered by a LB which is the look they wanted, but the motion did not draw the safety, he sat in the middle probably trying to play the run and then got a gift wrapped late Christmas present… agree it was a bad idea from the start

Freeman himself said it was a bad call. That they shouldn’t have thrown it there.

I agree. If he is willing to come to ND instead of opting out for a sure thing as a starter some place else. TB is injury prone having a proven quality QB being able to come in the game would solidify tHe QB room. By no means, is it going to be easy for anybody to beat out TB. I saw a lot of mental errors that came cleaned up with experience.

Actually what he said is they thought they had the look they wanted but they made a mistake.
Actually
We were looking for a specific look, and we thought we had it,” Freeman said of the play call. “Didn't have the exact look we were looking for, and the guy made a great play.

Obviously, at that moment, we were running the ball really well, and again, ultimately we obviously shouldn't have thrown it, shouldn't have called it.”

Good clarification … wrong point in the game to outsmart them. You had a tired and physically dominated defense and it’s the end of the game so you aren’t worried about keeping them guessing you just want to run over them one more time.

He did throw that pass like the football weighed a ton. Evans had time to grab a cup of coffee and read the paper.
