we need to start a list of the posters who are Kelly fans and not necessarily ND fans, those that we can wave goodby to when he heads out the door.
Kelly will be 0-7 for major bowl W's and that will be followed by 0-8 and 0-9 if he stays.
That prospect is haunting him and no way he wants that distinction!

Fire Kelly. It won't happen even though likely 80 per cent of the fan base would welcome it.
And how did you come up with the 80% number? Just curious. Scientific or just a wild number pulled out of the air?
The sad truth is it makes no difference if Kelly stays or goes. Until The Administration decides Football is important, nothing changes. I am not a Kelly fan but Urban Meyer or Nick Saban couldn't win at ND. If ND changes coaches it will be because of a change of focus. If not what difference does it make who the coach is?
I'd rather get worse trying to get better than stay the same doing nothing. We all know what this regime can do. What are we afraid of losing? Bowl losses and false starts? COME ON MAN!

But darn, the team could play as if they practiced! At times this team looks as if they are not cosched at all.
Losing because the other team is better is just part of sports. Losing because the team lacks fundamentals and or discipline is quite another.

Came close in 2012. We came so close to playing Kansas State in the Championship game and ND matched up well against them. Alabama not so much.
Just curious, let's say Swarbrick does can BK, who does he go get to replace him, and don't say Tom Herman. ND doesn't have the $$$$ to get into a bidding war with Texas and LSU
I am fine with Kelly if he can turn it around. however, I am tired of the irish losing major bowl games.

It strikes me that the question is can ND win with another coach? Yes, I believe they can. Will they win with Kelly - NO! He just is not someone for this level. Belongs at a smaller school. So, what are Swarbrick's choices; he can continue with this nonsense and upset the fan base and disillusion the ND faithful, he can make a change at some point in the future, or fire him now at the end of the season. A good executive, who is comfortable with himself and his judgement would fire him after the season if we lose 5-6 or more games. Or, will face the inevitability of firing him next year (this isn't getting better), which will result in damaging the fan base's good will and set back recruiting for several/many years to come.
Look, outsiders see what's happening here. Recruits see Coach 8 & 4 doesn't have long to be here and will look else where. Contract or no contract. He is not the answer. He is not a competent coach at this level. Regardless what the dreamers here think. Every year the AD delays, it sets the program back 2-3 years, maybe more. What is the most depressing is whoever they bring in will be severely limited in his ability to succeed do to the restrictions the university places on the program. To me, the real issue is what does the Administration, the Board of Directors and the AD want the football program to be - given the dramatic change in the college football universe. This is not the game, Rockne, Leahy, Ara or Lou competed in. The market has changed. Does ND want to adjust to it or just languish in mediocrity? The shame is ND is squandering the greatest legacy and brand in all of sports if it doesn't change. Our culture and reputation at the school, both academic and social, is built on/from football. Do the powers at be get that?

Do us a favor and find the lavatory, turn on the fan and do your business and spare us the crap you post.
Not so much "doesn't have the finances"....they just won't pay that kind of money for a football coach...ever...and why should they?
Regardless of who the coach is,or what the record is...the stands will be full....the games will be nationally televised...the shirts,hats etc. will be bought, so there's just no financial incentive for the ND administration to get in a bidding war to "buy" a football coach...it's just not their style and it doesn't make financial sense. The revenues will be the same with a 13-0 NC team, as with a 9-3 team.
This is sooooo wrong. Yes there are some things the admin can do that would help. It is not the answer. Coaching is. The college game demands good coaching. No where else does coaching make such a difference. Teams that have been perennial losers can win with good coaching

Personally if Kelly stays I am OK if they fire him I am OK. Give him this year and if next year they can not win a major bowl lets move on in another direction

I am going out on a limb and saying Kizer stays. Stretch? Sure, but he is not a predictable guy. He knows college is a one time deal
If he leaves, Wimbush could do real well I see 2017 as a strong year. The thing is, where would we be this year without Kizer? We would be sooo bad
The key to 2017 is can we get our D fixed? Talent is fine. Coaching is not. Offense can be good with Wimbush, will be fine. I see another 11 win season and a bowl loss. Kelly cannot get us to the next level. So the answer to your question is does not matter who is replacing whom, we will always be a few Nichols short imo
Maybe the tipping point will be if the national TV contract doesn't get renewed. A threat like that to the money train might cause a mad scramble by the admin to make a home run hire and try to bring the cushy Era of Mediocrity to an end.
