Fire Jack Thread

I agree. I am shocked as I truly believed Kelly would be fired today as did most good analysts.

Coaches were fired this year for less. Miles had his team ranked in the SEC and was canned. Strong beat Notre Dame and was canned.

Clearly, winning and good sportsmanship are more important at LSU and Texas than they are at ND.

Aside from football (other than this year football has been okay), most sports at ND are thriving. It will be tough to get Swarbrick fired if the administration looks at the overall picture.

Swarbrick will not be fired. He constructed the ACC deal that found a great home for all of the other ND sports while keeping ND football independent. ADs get fired when the money train is moving the wrong way. That isn't the case with ND. Don't forget Under Amour. The program, other than this year, has been much more competitive than in recent memory. The stadium is getting refurbished. There are a lot of great things happening at ND. One horrible football season won't counter balance all of the other things. Swarbrick is here as long as he wants to be.

Football is the driver though. Do any of the other sports other than mens basketball even generate any income for the school ? Football generates probably 90 percent of the athletic income.

Football put Notre Dame on the map.

The oversight of the football program is questionable. Jack IMO is on the hot seat along w/ BK. Jack hired BK. Jack does not recognize that BK is inadequate coach. Jack gave BK a $22,500,000 extension. Jack gave BK 6 more years. Jack IMO is on the hot seat along w/ BK. I know many others disagree w/ me - that's fine. But, Jack has blinders on. And sooner or later the BOT will tell Jack that BK needs to go. May not happen until after next season. It should happen right now. But, it's not looking like it will.

Like BVG - BK will be on board 1 year too many.

Jack business acumen in regards to BK is blinded.

I am not saying that maybe he won't eventually be fired. I am just pointing out why I don't think it will happen prior to next season. If Jack suspects Kelly is going to sink his row boat, I think he will push the coach overboard and whack him with a paddle.

Jack the business man ? He oversaw the signed ND under armour deal for $82 million in 2014. UCLA did their Under Armour deal for $280 million in 2016. Jack is some business man. Get's taken to the cleaners for $22,500,000 by BK's agent. And also was taken to the cleaners by Under Armour. Under Armour loves ND. BK's agent is sending Jack a box of See's candy for Christmas this year.

Who in the ND Admin oversee's Jack ?

I will say the ACC deal for all other sports was the one good move Jack has made for ND.

Jack is on the hot seat along w/ BK IMO.

You may be right but I don't believe he is, at least not now. If BK has another season like this one and Jack doesn't make a move, then I believe his seat temperature warms up significantly.

In reality, he is not currently, but, the reality is that some questionable business decisions have been made in regards to BK's extension and even as to why the ND Under Armour deal is so small compared to UCLA's ? I know UCLA's was done a year and half later in 2016. But, theirs is for $200,000,000 more than ND's !

IS UCLA a more popular brand than ND - I dont think so - How come ND got taken advantage of on the Under Armour deal ?

So, his seat may not be hot - but it is warming up. Especially w/ his backing of a lame duck coach.

Jack gave Kelly a six year extension which led to a 4-8 season and no bowl game. The ACC deal is a mistake. Scandals abound and the ND program is a disgrace. Fire Jack and Kelly now.

I don't buy that JS is on the hotseat....he is connected to the powers that be who oversee the entire university situation. He is not autonomous....nor should he be. Any decision on Kelly will have been cleared in advance. The greater question has to do with football expections in the short run....and whether the necessary change will happen. Kelly and Swarbrick are apples and oranges.

Just because you think the ACC deal was a mistake doesn't not make that true. Stop acting stupid.

it has proven to be a lesser lucrative deal for ND. That makes it a bad deal. Then there is the signs that the officials are less than fair reffing games.

Less lucrative than what deal that was possible in the same time frame?

As having been mentioned by others, I too believe Kelly is given his walking papers in a few days. No way he should be allowed to stay. The administration must know this, although some here think not.

As for the replacement, I don't know other than Kelly. A coach who doesn't like to shotgun with 5 wide from the opponents one yard. A coach that likes defer to the second half.
Maybe one who likes to pace the sidelines instead of standing in one place for much of the game. That would be a change from the last 15 years of coaches at ND.

Even San Jose st fired their coach at 4 and 8. They believe they can do better. Why cant we?
Like I get wanting to fire BK, but why does what San Jose State firing their coach have anything to do with ND? Did San Jose go to the NC 4 years ago? Was San Jose St's coach the National Coach of the year... twice?

seems like accountability only applies to students and athletes. Why in heck should the pkayers go out their and play for their lives? 4 wins is just dandy at ND! How in the world could a kid respect Kelly?
