It seems like we'll be finishing with 8-10 more prospects, imo

Who do you see us closing this class with?

Imo, the best case scenario is:
  1. APB - Damien Alloway
  2. WR - Javon McKinnley
  3. DE - Olw Betiku
  4. DT - Carlo Kemp
  5. LB - Daelin Hayes
  6. LB - Caleb Kelly
  7. CB - Patrick Vaughn
  8. CB - Damar Hamilton
  9. S - Devin Studstill
  10. ATH - Demitris Robinson

Yeah.....that would be nice! I appreciate the notion, but it's still WAY too early for me to even hazard a guess. I sure hope yours comes true!

To be clear, that's not a prediction, just was I see as the best possible case, to spark some conversation

Personally, i think Betiku, Kelly, and Hamilton are reaches (at best) right now. But all are visiting, so you never know...

It's borderline impossible to close that perfectly

I don't think you ever take 3 true RBs in one class. Even less so in a class following 2 RBs. Let alone when you don't really expect to lose a single RB off the roster

I get the RB situation right now is tough, but you recruit based on future roster composition, not the current season

I think we get 1-2 true RBs and an APB/Slot player

One thing is for sure, BK has finally learned to over-recruit and make it work. We had something like 92 scholly players on signing day and still ended up having schollies to give out to walk-on players. Kudos BK!

i saw somewhere where there might be a UM recruit visit for the Ga Tech game and if offered we likely would flip him, no names were given. Also there is a 3* DT, Jovann Swann, visiting Oct 3rd and Anna says to be on commit watch.
As for your list i think ND lands between 3-5 of these players. I honestly think we have a better chance with the Stvall kid that decommitted from USC than Alloway.

I assume it's Evans and I seriously doubt we offer. If we wanted him we would have offered a while ago. He's wanted to commit for a while

Same for Swann. I don't think he can commit even if he wants to and I seriously doubt that changes before the January (if ever)

You coukd end up being right about Stovall, he's definitely interested. However, Alloway is clearly higher on our board and by all reports we lead for him (or are tied with UCLA at worst

I would say that 3-5 of the above layers is probably the conservative estimate, especially of we have a 10+ win season

add apb stovall from CA to that list as our irish seem to now have a really good shot with him after his visit last weekend and according to wiltfong we now lead for 5 star GA athlete Robertson from that above list after his visit last weekend

Betiku I don't see happening unless Mora gets fired or goes to the NFL

I won't say you are wrong. But, I do believe that ND has a better chance than many think. He is listening. He is visiting. He scheduled a visit within a month of his commitment to UCLA, after saying he was finished with recruiting.

Let's not forget Donnie Corley at WR either. After visiting things have changed with him as well.

Alabama and UOJ both have 3 true freshman and one redshirt freshman on their rosters. 9 rbs total on their rosters.
ND has 3 healthy rb's that didnt play on the scout team last year and one may graduate. I would say 3 rb's is a must in this class if they want to compete with the other elite programs.

Hamlin is probably OSU bound. Fuller might be better shot. If Gary ever visits it might turn the tide,he knows Wimbush fairly well. Lamar Jackson or Eric Cufee might be our best shot at 3rd cb. Most say Kemp is leaning to Michigan ,I don't adhere to that.I really like JE 's enthusiasm for recruiting others. If ND could sway Betiku , that would be awesome. Uphill climb as of now but who knows with recruits.Wonder what kind of grades Craig-Meyers has? Read where ND is working on Kameron Martin rb and Chauncey Gardner cb. Whom do you like better Alloway or Stovall?

I think Stovall would be the best choice....just a matter of opinion but he looks like a more well-rounded back to me. Craig-Meyers would he HUGE. ....however I've not heard a peep about his grades. Must be okay academically if ND has had interest in him. Craig-Meyers with Corley or McKinnley added along with him would be an outstanding group of WRs for this recruiting haul when you add them with Stepherson and Claypool. Just don't really think they would take 4 WRs.....3 at the most is what I figured but I've been wrong......alot.

We need to get Hayes - bad IMO . Kelly will manufacture points as long as he is here in fact we are stockpiled w enough players for the next five yrs to guarantee that we put up 30 + no matter what ( see LSU game as an example ) best defense in SEC 450 yds 31 pts
Having someone like Jaylon Smith makes a difference , Hayes is that guy . We need to have guys who can track a play in space and make a play . Fact is the staff knows this and I am certain they are balls to the wall to get LB's and DE's that are difference makers, to this end it is what will put us in the playoffs or keep us out .

When we played Ala in Miami they stonewalled our offense - we need to do the same -- it's about players .

As Kelly said every coach in the country is beholden to the players he has as far as scheme and what that respective coach wants to execute . Van Gorder needs to have guys who can eat up space in a timely manner if ND is to max out . Get Hayes !!!

I was at the Cotton Bowl when we crushed Texas - Ross Browner basically terrorized their QB into 4 turnovers - see national championship !! That's what I'm talking about --BTW the state of Texas must despise Notre Dame despise us .

It just doesn't make any sense with our roster composition, especially in a class following one where we took 2 RBs

We'll never be able to recruit the numbers alabama does because we're unwilling to pull scholarships from players for underperforming and give them to new prospects

I'd be SHOCKED if we take 3 true RBs in a single class at any point under Kelly, nor should we.

This isn't 1985 and we don't run a power I anymore. The position doesn't have enough value on it's own and it's to easy to move other quality athletes into it (see Prosise)

Yes,but if they told Robertson that they like him at wr,how will that affect McKINLEY or Craig-Meyers? ND hopefully picks up some excellent dbs as the cupboard is getting low after this season. I see Tranquill moving to lb next year with his size. Corley ends up at Mich if his dad has any sway. WR is looking strong just as OL. DBs and DL -DE is where ND needs to recruit strongly the rest of the year.Could be a big class in the end. Any info on Spencer Perry ? I keep reading rumors but don't know how concise they might be.

I've not heard a word on Perry. Hayes is a pivotal point for the recruiting class....if they can land him it would be huge. Him being able to possibly play DE or LB both.....we need that. But I agree. ....i think our offense is loaded for the next couple years and the defense is where we need the most attention. Some quality DE's and secondary players would be nice.

Next yr we have

  • Folston
  • Procise
  • Adams
  • Williams
  • Jones
They only need 1 more kid in this class @ RB 2 is gravy -- IMO the program is 2-3 kids away from going to elite status . Those three kids would be in the form of DE's and OLB's , difference makers and then we play with anyone in the country . I think for this season we have enough to win big .

FYI in the last 46 games ND is ranked 4 th in college football for allowing rushing TD's - our rush defense is very stout .
