Mentioned as one of many possible destinations. One minor mention of ND.Before I even read the article, I'm guessing there is some mention of Mullen at Notre Dame??
This was on college sports radio today as well.Mentioned as one of many possible destinations. One minor mention of ND.
Mullen is 7 games under 500 against power 5 opponents.
It's six wins against the top-25. Read it again. And do you realize it's Mississippi State? They are the doormat of that conference and he's done a better job than any coach in program history. Smh @ some people. The SEC is such a cesspool when it comes to recruiting, it's hard to determine how good some of those coaches are. But only four wins over top 25 teams in nine seasons is not good.

My guess is Mullen to Nebraska at the end of this year. And PJ Fleck to Notre Dame when Kelly leaves in two years or so.
So what if it's ND ? That hasn't t meant a damn thing in the last 4 coaching searches. Find who you believe is the best guy period, regardless of experience. Can't see ND taken another unproven. See maybe Washington or maybe Urbie for his last dream job. PJ = TW or BD. If you have not finished in the top 5 and a shot at an NT don't see it. Heard good things but it's ND. Just different.
None of them were considered the best choice at the time. Weis was like the 5th or 6th option. None of the others were the primary target. Can't speak for Faust because of my age. I ve said it numerous times before. No highly accomplished elite level coach has shown even a remote interest in the job in the last 4 coaching searches sans Urban's brief flirtation a while back. What has transpired to lead you to think that would change in the next search ? Stoops has turned down overtures from ND numerous times in the past. Why now at his age ? Until a highly successful established guy shows serious interest ND is still looking for lightning in a bottle regardless of the resume. I agree it's a tough job because of the obstacles the administration presents. Even more reason why none of the top guys are interested. Why would they be ? ND doesn't have the cache it used to.CW was the best. TW was the best. BD was the best. Faust was the best. At the time, they all were "the best".
The only two coaches in the last 30 years that had a NT game was Lou and BK like it or not.
BK and Lou both had long careers with great win loss % and had jlessor teams (Ark and Cinci) in it to the end.
I'm only saying it's the toughest job in coaching. Pick someone who has done it before or dominated their conference.
The coach for UW or Urbie seem to meet that criteria. Saban is too old to move. Don't see Dabo out of Clemson. Stoops meets the criteria. Franklin had everyone dreading playing Vandy in the SEC. he is a good choice. A few more as well. PJ does not yet. When MN is in the conf championship he is ready.
I would have no issue with Dan Mullen at ND. Fine coach.Mentioned as one of many possible destinations. One minor mention of ND.
