Everyone's freaking out

and they should be. Kelly just flat out sucks. Play calling is bad. QB play is bad. D was respectful and really the only bright spot. What makes it worse is I don't think Georgia is any good.

The defense is very good. The offense average.

I agree on GA. I don't think they are all that great. This was a very beatable team and the o-line which is supposed to be the strength and one of the best in the country was just dominated all night.

I think Georgia is plenty good. Strength of their team is defense. Their defense made us look like a high school team. Their offense is a control the ball type offense and they started a freshman qb. There was never a shred of doubt in my mind that Georgia would not win.

My only surprise was that it wasn't by two or three TDs. Our defense played lights out.

All we did was put the South in South Bend.

That's good enuff for me.
P.S. We left a minimum of 17 on the field, shoulda never been this close.

Sorry, but our offensive line was supposed to be the "strength"? Uh, no sir... a true freshman started at right tackle, another redshirt freshman started at right guard, as HDK stated perfectly our D-line is our strength... if you want to say we're not that great fine, but at least know what you're talking about when playing down the loss to a "beatable" team...

UGA is a 4 loss team with a bad coach..ND is in for a rough season.

UGA 9-3 this season
ND 8-4 or 7-5?

Neither team is that great. UGA has a top tier D, but lacks OL or QB play to compete with the elite teams.

And ND left 17 on the field. Don't be a dumba$$.

Wow... he was talking about ND's offensive line. Not UGA's. You're cut off. Go get some sleep. Lol.

Is Georgia an elite team? No. Are they a good team? That remains to be seen in the final analysis, but a glance at the rest of the regular-season schedule reveals only a single game (Auburn) in which Georgia will likely not be favored. Even if you throw in an upset someplace (Florida? Tennessee?), you're likely looking at a 10-2 SEC East champion. Georgia's not Alabama, but they're not Duke or Navy (both of whom beat the Irish last season), either.

And remember, Georgia was starting a true freshman QB on the road in an allegedly hostile environment (although by the looks of things it was almost like a Georgia home game). The offensive scheme was limited by the fact that the QB only really knows about 60% of the playbook. And the Dawgs will get Eason back later this season.

I think Georgia is a very solid football team------2 elite backs and a Top 10 front 7.

They look a lot better to me than anyone else I've see the SEC East.

Don't over analyze it----- their DL beat our OL-----pure and simple.

Trust me I know exactly what I'm talking about as I am referring to the Irish o-line in that post not yours. Trust me I know yours is not the strength as you would have rushed for tons more against the Irish front If it was.

UGA has the 2nd best talent in the SEC (behind Alabama), so losing to them shouldn't be an embarrassment.

I think ND has the potential to be a very good team. In the end you had an offensive line for Notre Dame with future NFL stars going against a defensive line with future NFL stars. One difference is that UGA could rotate in fresh but almost equally talented defensive lineman the whole game where ND needed those All American O-lineman to stay in the game. I think eventually they wore down some. It seemed the play at the beginning of the game by the ND O-line was better than at the end of the game. They are very good though. Very.

ND is a fg team Sport. Your only TD was from freshman QB's gift TO at our 37 yd line.

Welcome to big boy SEC fb, now take a lap.

Please stop with the dominant SEC crap. The SEC has lived off of Bama since Tim Tebow was at Florida. Michigan pounded Florida, Clemson beat Auburn, A&M got beat by UCLA, Arkansas lost to TCU. The SEC isn't the best conference in the country anymore. Maybe 5 years ago.

Will admit that nobody puts out a better red carpet for a cfb game all around and we appreciate the hospitality. Now, if you could just translate that into a winning fb program.....well, you get the picture.

Wow, most of the ND fans on this board are embarrassing. Talk about whiny little entitled children with their panties in a twist. We lost to a good Georgia team by one point and now the seasons over to them. Fine, take your ball, go home, leave this board, and let the adults talk. Geesh!!!

While I won't say I'm freaking out but based on what I saw Saturday, I do think USC and Stanford are both better than UGA so confidence going into those games will not be high thus the outlook of 8-4 is highly likely. You never know how it will play out but to me this was definitely the more winnable game of those 3 defining on the schedule.

I think he was talking about OUR O-line.

How come you guys lost to Vanderbilt last year.? And the 4 other teams and you should have lost to Nicholls State and Missouri. Alabama does not have that problem.
Different year, different team. GA is going to have a very good year in the best conference.

I dont think they are very good. No gamebreakers other than RB. Tons of self inflicted penalties.

That was an elite defense. If you can't see that there is no hope for you. UGA is stacked with 4 and 5 star athletes at every position.

We currently have 10 5-star recruits on the team. That is almost one whole starting lineup on one side of the ball if they all played at the same time. UGA has not found an offensive identity or any consistency. The offense is average right now, but not due to talent. We have a young O-line and a freshman true QB. There is a lot of learning going on. But you have to give your defensive coordinator some credit. He helped make UGA look average as well.

Lets let the season play out before you judge either team. The Irish played hard. UGA played hard. It's too early for broad characterizations about either team.

Stanford's D-line isn't up to past year's standards (especially the left side), but their corners are great. Follow our blueprint: run, run,run until the corners have to cheat, then burn them passing. You'll be fine.

Also they have a great set of tight ends, so make sure your safeties work on that.

Beach, It felt like last year that Solomon Thomas beat us almost by himself, very happy that he has moved on. Lost in our collective despair over losing is that our defense has played two pretty good games in a row and is light years better than it was 12 months ago. We are noticeably better and more confident on defense.

Thanks for the scouting report. I do hold UGA's defensive talent in high regard but offensively they are well behind these 2 (as of this week anyway and that can definitely change if either Eason or Fromm can throw it more effectively to open up that powerful run game). Elko's scheme was executed well on Saturday but the talent on the defensive side is still lacking so any injuries along the way will greatly disrupt them. Definitely not chicken little after only the second game but I guess I (like most fans) still suffer from the wounds from last year.

After McGlinchey got beat for the 4th or 5th time I lost it and made this exact declaration to gasps throughout the room. I will paraphrase "Notre Dame can't even get a first round draft pick to hold his water on 3 and 10. They will not win a meaningful game in the 4th quarter. Georgia is 1 dimensional and will go 9-3." I've since walked it back but I am still verrrrrrry concerned that the team did a "Uh oh! Here we go again." Kirby Smart looked more surprised than anyone that they won.

Stanford will be in their 4 year slump this year. They are a 7-5 or 8-4 team. Look at heir history, they need one of two types of QBs to excel: A stud like Luck or a very proficient game manager like Hogan. Chryst is neither. He's a statue who can't make decisions. However, PAC 12 is not nearly as good as last year so they could win a few more than that.

Stanford is no pushover but not as god defensively as UGA

Agreed that Stanford's D will not be better as I think most people assume that we probably saw a top 10 defense on Saturday. We score 49 on Temple (yes I know it's Temple) but my biggest concern was the game plan and use of personnel. Listening to Kelly I get that BW has a lot to learn deciphering the defense and adjusting the protection which was part of the issue on Saturday so the eternal optimist believes this will be an opportunity to improve on that.

Take it however you like but this an 8 win average program for the last 7 years which all your great recruits squeaked by. You have two good running backs offensively. We are no one's measuring stick with Kelly as our coach. You have a good defense and a lot of speed there but our offense is not good. This is a 7 or 8 win ND team and it took a late fg for you to beat.

Sorry, had to dig up, "The sky is falling" post. Anyone care to swallow any crow tonight?
Its one game against a poorly coached, banged up USC team. Lets wait until the end of the season. I hope you are right and they smack everyone and make the playoffs but we have a long way to go.
