So it has been this week on this board. Lots of factions doing lots of things - which in the end led to the new Rivals team taking some actions - some justified and some probably not. In some ways I kind of likened this board to a classroom that has lost its teacher - and everyone trying to see how much they can get away with on the new substitute teacher. And when the new teacher hasn't quite had the experience of how to handle (or in some cases not handle) some situations, chaos can erupt.
There are all kinds of factions on this board - Domers vs subway alum... Oldtimers vs youngsters... Traditionalists vs modernists... Those who like to joke around and those who don't know how to... Trying to put together a quality editorial product is hard enough for the Rivals team, let alone trying to ride herd on the bunch of cats that inhabit this forum...
I hope civility can prevail in the long run. Every one of us who participate in this forum is going to have things that are posted set them off... Everyone is going to have posters they can't tolerate (yes, I know I am one of those to some of you)... But the open attacks on posters and sometimes recruits don't belong here. Yes, each of us is entitled to their own opinion, and I will defend the rights of everyone to have their own opinion. But we are not entitled to "make it personal" by verbally bullying or abusing any individual. The old adage is Patience is a virtue... Hopefully we can all learn some of that moving forward.
