Elko would be a good start to positive staff changes

Elko has the potential to address 2 if not all 3 of my concerns with this defensive staff.

1. We go back to a multiple 3-4 look which is exactly where I think Kelly made his first major mistake shifting to a 4-3 with BVG after Diaco bolted.

2. Elko also coaches safeties at Wake. I have said that I feel Lyght needs an experienced coach with him in the secondary and Elko provides that. A guy Lyght can learn and lean on.

3. If Elko brings in Cohen or if we shift Elston back to the DL than great and all 3 of my defensive staff issues will be address. Gilmore was brought in for BVG's scheme so Cohen or Elston would be a better fit going back to more of a 3-4 look.

On offense, Sanford is gone and I won't lose s second of sleep over it. I think he is a good coach but I think his hire did more bad than good. Just too many guys wearing hats with Kelly, Denbrock and Sanford. Plus I didn't see a single ounce of development with Kizer and Zaire in Year 2 with Sanford coaching the QBs.

I would like to see Denbrock shift back to TE and maybe special teams coach and try and fix that mess Booker has created.

I would like to see Jeff Quinn replace Hiestand as the OL and potential OC.

And we go out and hire the best coach/recruiter to coach the WRs.

Kelly returns to giving his full attention to the QBs and offense.

If these changes were to take place my feeling on Kelly having a chance to right the ship will be a lot better than I currently feel about them.
