Draft Hypothetical - What do you think?

After hearing clips from Kiser's "Camp Gruden" segment today, I think if Will Fuller had come back to ND in 2016 that Kiser would easily be the #1 QB on everyone's draft board right now. He lost both Fuller and Jones for 2016 and didn't have a go-to guy. It wasn't the only issue, but I suspect it was enough to alter his draft trajectory from the end of 2015 through this past season.

In the end, I think he could end up in a healthier situation going later in the draft to a team that is looking a year or two down the road -- AZ, Pitt, etc.

I don't see that

It's Kizer's decision making and mechanics that have caused him to tumble down draft boards, more than his lack of production or winning (see questions still existing about Watson)

Kizer just didn't improve much from Year 1 to Year 2, as many were projecting/hoping and then went to the NFL after only 2 years of CFB with minimal development evident on tape

If Fuller had come back and Kizer somehow put up 1000 more yards and won 4-5 more games.......he'd still be getting picked apart in this pre-draft process

I think leaving was the wrong call for him. But it could end up being better for ND
(I like Wimbush better as a CFB player, though Wimbush may not have the NFL projection)

I think he'll go no later than the first 10 picks of the second round. Too many teams need a QB. On day 2 you can take a chance on someone with a "high upside."

I agree it wasn't his only issue and he would've been more polished next year. If getting to the NFL is your goal, then it was wise to jump. Look what happened to Jaylon.

I think his decision making would've looked much better in '16 if he'd had Fuller and/or Jones as the go-to guy.

For his sake, I hope he falls (yes, I would like to see a ND QB go in the first round, but would also love to see him end up in a better situation for his career). Maybe Steelers or Cardinals in 2nd round, or a team like that - a quality organization and an entrenched starter who is a short timer. Let him learn without being thrust in there with a coach who will be fired in a year.

I agree about Wimbush. Hell I liked Zaire better as a college player

Totally agree, and think Steelers would be ideal situation.

This is a very bad year for QB's coming out. Don't blame Kizer for entering the draft but none of these QB's are first round guys. Bad teams will reach too high as they always do.

The majority of what I have read makes me think he did not get positive seperation from Watson and Trubisky, in fact he may have fallen back a bit.

I still expect him to go in the first round and I think it is best for him to go lower to a better team.
