I know this topic is getting old but I was wondering what radio stations cover the ND game? Do not want to hear old Douggie talk about Boston College and how great they are the whole game.

The game isn't on NBC. The next 2 weeks are off without him. Thank goodness.
Trust me, you don't want anything to do with the ND radio broadcast. I have admired Don Criqui pretty much his whole career, but you have no idea what's going on when you listen to those games these days. Very frustrating.
It's amazing how much the ND admin hates their own football program. NBC pays to televise ND home games right ? You'd think ND would want complete ND homers doing the color commentating.

Have you considered the possibility that NBC doesn't want a homer crew doing the ND games? Perhaps to facilitate a broader national appeal than just ND fans?
And anyone who thinks for a minute that Jenkins' administration hates the football program either knows nothing about ND, or is something south of a total moron. Or maybe both of those.
I agree with this. It's not supposed to be a homer broadcast.
I have no issue with Flutie - I think he's fine as an announcer - and I also didn't have an issue with Mayock. Tirico, I think, has been a great addition, but I figure we'll lose him eventually once Al Michaels retires.
There were people that bitched about Tony Roberts back in the day because he didn't sugarcoat what was going on on the field, and he might be one of the better play by play guys ever. ND fans are hyper sensitive to any negativity, any slight, or any innocuous comment that might be construed as a slight. As a group, they are NEVER going to be happy with quality announcers, because quality announcers tend to tell you how it really is.
I agree. No matter which announcer you get, someone here is going to have a problem with him. I've seen people suggest Joe Theismann or, earlier in the thread, Tim Brown, even though the former wasn't generally thought to be a great color commentator, and the latter, to my knowledge, has no experience.
I'd rather have a commentator who attended a rival school who gives a fairly straightforward, enlightening analysis (not saying Flutie does) than a homer who generally is terrible at the job.
Like Criqui but he lost his "fastball" 5 years ago. Not good at all.
Also think Tony Roberts stayed much too long. He was not very the last few years. Time for another change to a good announcer. I like Tirico but could do without Flutie.
First of all ND is weak to have let that happen. Just like they were weak to have their stadium invaded, and are weak to always have the visiting team's conference refs officiate ND home games instead of having refs from a neutral conference. This past Saturday was a total SEC invasion. ND is so smart.
ndhell is a total moron I can't wait for ND to start playing ACC teams with ACC refs. The ACC refs haven't F'd over ND at all. cough FSU cough. Secondly, have you considered that maybe the opposite of what you are saying is true?
The only reason ND football was televised nationally was because they had been super successful and had won lots of games. This is pretty much the only reason ND as a school is known across America and internationally. Sure ND has strong academics but any prestige they have was built by football success and Catholic plebs watching it on tv or listening to it on radio. ND is not Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, MIT, Oxford or Cambridge as much as the ND admin and alumni would like to think so.
Football success earned ND more fans and more haters at the same time. That's what made them relevant. The plebs cared whether Catholic or Protestant.
ND hasn't won big and consistently for a long time now. ND has lost a lot of fans and haters because of it, and hasn't earned new fans and haters because of it.
Right now there isn't much reason for the casual football fan, the ND fan, or ND hater to tune in to ND football games, especially when so many other games are now available. When ND loses it's no big deal, it is just a common occurrence, and the somewhat Anti ND play by play announcer, color commentator, and sideline pretty faced reporter are either indifferent or feel a mild glee which they may or may not contain and conceal.
Where is the entertainment value in that ??????? Where is the drama in that ? People need to be emotionally engaged and compelled.
So maybe the ideal scenario is to have a couple of the biggest Kool Aid drinking ND homers balanced out with a couple of the biggest ND bashers working the games.
Either way ND needs to get someone like Jerome Bettis or Tim Brown contributing in the booth for ND home games, and contributing in a shamelessly pro ND manner.
At the very least have a Notre Dame guy do the weekly color, but add a third commentator each week from the visiting team. That way you still get balance. It would work. Picture ND vs Miami in Southbend . You have Tirico doing play by play. Also add Lou Holtz for the Irish and Jimmy Johnson for the Canes. How great would that be? It easily make games more interesting and fun to watch. Just a thought. I know it won't happen but I can dream.
Contributing in a shamelessly pro ND manner? My God our fans are soft. Didn't realize they need 'safe spaces' for the broadcast.
Why does it make us soft? Because we want someone to call ND games that loves the program as much as we do? Think the proper term is passionate.
Because certain people can only listen to an ND game, apparently, when the announcers are homers and biased toward ND.
I'd prefer someone who is a good, informed, smart analyst, regardless of their background.

What the F is soft about wanting your team to actually have a home field advantage ??? Actually having more ND fans in their own stadium than opposing fans. What's soft about wanting to get neutral refs for your games instead of always having refs that are from your opponent's conference ? How many times have we seen ND players get injured from opposing players taking head shots at them and the refs not calling a targeting penalty and ejecting the culprit? What's soft about wanting to showcase and promote your school and team in as positive a light as possible on the television network that has paid to broadcast your home games for the past 20 years. Doing that would help generate new fans and influence young athletes to want to play for ND. PRO ND propaganda like the movie Rudy is needed.
Instead the ND admin is allowing everything to be Anti ND.
You don't get more soft and cuckish than that.
It's the same mentality and leadership mindset that has allowed everything that Europeans and European descendants have built , conquered, and created to be given away.

What a beautiful invasion. It's great ND paid for so many recruits to be at that game in person to witness it. Why would any of them want to waste their prime young stud years at ND ?
They can't truth be told. It's not a regional broadcast. If it was regional like say in the NHL then the homers are actually a necessity. Fans of the other team watch from their respective regional network covering their team on the road.
However in a nationally televised game there has to be equal time spent covering or clamoring for both teams. I don't know if it's an fcc thing or what but putting a ND guy in the National broadcast booth would be too much Notre Dame as they already shower the audience with so much of the allure and little cut in segments all pro Notre Dame.
Oh don't worry we'll still get those kids. Those are the special aisle kids. Or different aisle. Or whatever lame ass excuse he used at that particular time. Hilarious honestky bevayse while he was saying about having to recruit from a different aisle I believe Stanford took the very same different aisle kids and won the rose bowl.
But then again one school gets results and the other offers excuses.

I'll watch every ND game. Doesn't matter if the team is 0-12 or 12-0. I live and breathe the Irish. Doesn't matter if BK is the coach or Shakes The Clown is the coach. I'm a fan and I'm watching my team play on Saturday.
The only thing that was making all these mediocre football seasons bearable was when NBC had Alex Flanagan on the ND sidelines. She was hot. Now she is gone.
That we can agree on. To hit 40, and have cranked out three kids, and look that good, Alex is my #1.
