Really ND is struggling to run the ball. 5 yards a carry in the first half is more like 7-8 come second half unless they just sell out on the run. I guess the only reason we have the lead is cause a couple injuries for NCSt. I'm almost rooting for road games so I don't have to hear this shit. I like Tirico though.

I really don’t pay any attention to him or the other talking heads. I usually pause the game during the breaks,
And take a break myself ! Whatever Flutie says makes no difference to the outcome of the game , so I just ignore him!

I like him, he's not just another homer,he tells it like it is and his pointers on what is happening, and why, are damn good.

stupid comment that the game came down to two plays (he forgot the punt block -- the only score by NCst!) We dominated them on offense -- on the ground -- and they could not do a think vs. our young defense the whole second half.

Bad analysis. This was total domination.

No. Pains him to say anything positive without a 'but''. Especially when we dominate in the second halves. It's an ND channel, I'd like to have an ND person calling it even with knowledge of the University and history...

And I Quote" Adams has been basically shutdown by this vaunted NC State defense and Bradley Chub. If not for one run ND wouldn't have any yardage." At that point, Adams had already amassed 80 yards half way through the second quarter. He has become quite irksome.

Not only can he not really give ND any credit and if he does, it seems he does it begrudgingly, but his analysis of the game seems stuck in 1987. Compare him to Mayock and it’s a night and day difference. Mayock would talk about coverages, snap count reactions, blitz reads, etc., etc., and Flutie can only seemingly add, “They’re running it well!” Or the “Defense is the key,” or such other football platitudes.

He’s terrible.

I like Flutie and feel he calls a good game. I do not see any bias in his game calling at all.

Adams runs ujp to the point he makes the comment.
21,3,-7,4,35,9,-1,1,14,5,1,-2,5,5,4. Over 6 yards a carry. Yeah, they were a brick ****ing wall against the run. Thankfully the whole NCSt line was injured.

Doesn't bother me. My sister knows him pretty well, seems to be a genuinely nice guy.

Even my 11 year old was asking "why is he so against Notre Dame"? On home games NBC turns into Notre Dame Brodcast Chanel. I want a more biased commentator. Mike Golic would be fantastic! Or even his son.

Don't think he tells it like it is but rather how he would like it to be. Another jock who is bitter he didn't get the chance to play at ND.

I normally don't touch these conversations about announcer bashing, but I cannot omit that we are miles above the Haden-Hammond days

No! Bring back Haden
Bob Trumpy.
At the very least he was hungover enough he didn't root for or against either team. Matter of fact I'm not sure he wanted to be there so he didn't say much. He'd be great with Tirico as all we'd hear is Tirico.

Can't...
It's not a regional sports station homer announcer type thing. It's national abd therefore they need someone to be fair. At least that's the attempt.

I really got annoyed with the "21 point swing because of 2 plays" comment. It implies that NC State was actually competing. o_O Were we not watching the same game? After the first couple of possessions ND was in complete control of the game and NC St was very clearly outclassed.

Let's face it, these commentators have an impact on the narrative of the program/game. Recruits, heisman voters, pollsters, college football fans from around the country are all watching. It's in NDs best interest to have a guy in the booth who doesn't mind gushing about the team when warranted. And NDs done A LOT to gush over this season; yet Doug Flutie is constantly pouring water on the fire.

NBC seems to like him. The 2 play comment was ludicrous but only ND fans would get riled by that. The thing that producers note is silence during the broadcast. The color guy is supposed to fill that time. The final drive by ND lasted 8:40 and we took 15 plays to go 76 yds. It was a dominating impose your will type drive and a crushing blood letting for NCSt's defense. If you rewatch that drive it would be Ex. A as to why Flutie is on the B or C team of color commentators. If I recall correctly there were approximately 3 sequences of very awkward silence during plays. Flutie had nothing to offer. Those episodes will cost him the job much quicker than any substance he offers.

Maybe a strong showing in the playoffs or a new years day bowl will bring ratings and interest back up and NBC will sink a bit more cash into the broadcast. Keep Tirico and drop the rest.

I normally can't stand Flutie. But he really didn't bother me this week, cuz I was at the game.

Then I watched a replay of the game last night, and it seemed like Flutie and I watched different games.

I remember that Hail Mary pass against Miami. It happened in 1984, a year when Notre Dame went 7-5 ... nowhere near the national championship. Your post makes no sense.

I think he's remembering the Kordell Stewart "Hail Mary" pass that beat Michigan in 1994 and is getting that fantastic play confused with Flutie beating ND.

Or, he could have mixed up Flutie's 1984 Hail Mary with 1993, when Flutie's school cost ND the natty with a last-second field goal.

In any case, I didn't know a big-time reporter could be so easily confused.

You could be right,,,,I don't know everything....

He was on my flight home..... behind me..... talked a few minutes......I said Josh is the real deal..... his response was "ND is the real deal..... dominating.... one of the best"... was pleasant... complimentary of fans and team...... that's all I can add
