about coaches arguing plays while being on the field? WF coach was on the field umpteen times arguing calls. In basketball, the coach cannot get out of the box area or he can be t'd up. Why do football coaches be allowed to be on the field of play protesting calls without penalty? He argued out there long enough to get refs to change call on personal foul[Hunter being thrown while out of bounds]. Seems like this gives coaches edge without using a timeout.

They give the head coach a lot of leeway. That may have been over the line, but it's not unheard of to let it go. They don't for the assistants though. That's why Kelly was so worked up a couple weeks ago.

It's in the math. Think about this a second...basketball coaches aren't supposed to be on the court but are allowed to be to a point.
A basketball court is three times the width of a football field.
Football coaches are not to be on the field but are allowed to be to a point...now do the math. Think about how far a basketball coach comes on to the floor, now multiply that by three.

Notice it's only the head coach in both sports on the field or given the verbal pasting....because if an assistant does it technical fouls or unsportsmanlike calls are ensuing.
Its all in a gentlemen's agreement you see.

88, as a 15 year HS official, I agree with you. But, I thought the crew let the WF coach voice hugs opinion a tad to strongly for to long. The whole crew looked foolish for waiving off the call, especially with no explanation. Very poor officiating

No doubt the quality of crew was shit, (the rubbing on the long snapper) ..I mean seriously that might be the weakest call I've seen all year. I don't care which side that was on. That could be called on 90 percent of the punts....
Anyways it was an ACC crew and if you are an official of 15 years you know that they might have even been acquaintances of the Wake head coach. You know how it works.....They don't call it unfairly but in that case they give eveb extra leeway.

Also Wake is an ACC school ...Those coaches know those guys and know what they can get away with.
It may be technically wrong but it's just what goes on between coaches and refs. Trust me , I know

For a football head coach to be penalized or thrown out, he needs to basically strike an official. They give them waaaayyyy to much leeway.
