Demetrius Jackson to return next year for Irish

Glad he is coming back. Not sure how good of a pro he would be next year and he seems a bit small so it was surprising to see some have him graded as a first round pick.

I for one am shocked he'd be a first round pick. Don't get me wrong, I think he has a world of talent, but first round? I just don't see that

Just copied the link.

I gotta admit I am by far not nearly as big of a follower of Basketball as I am football. And as a rule if it doesn't include ND. I usually don't even pay attention to it.

But hope the kid has a great season next year. And it is always great to see someone help the team and the school before they take off to make millions at the next level.

It's just a shame that such a talented kid hasn't improved in two years because no one is there to coach him.

Sincerely,

Buguit

I figured he would come back. my question since the last game though has been who is going to replace grant. I've read a lot of great thing about our incoming freshmen but the question is do you want to start a true freshmen at that position

SAL,

He is a projected lottery pick in the summer of 2016. DJ is a stud. I'm glad people on here aren't scouts or GM's. There'd be no one playing in the pros.

1. Being a projected lottery pick in the summer of 2016 doesn't mean he would be NBA ready in 2015 which is what I expressed doubts about. Further I haven't seen any mocks that had DJ as a 1st rounder in 2015 which is why I said that the article saying he was graded out as a 1st round prospect was surprising. Perhaps he wasn't listed in Mocks for 2015 because the mock draft authors were waiting to evaluate him until after he announced he was leaving early but they don't wait with other prospects so I doubt this.

2. Draft Express is the only place I have seen him projected as a lottery pick for 2016. I have seen multiple other mocks for 2016 that have him anywhere from late Round 1 - undrafted. With the effect early entries and euro players can have on a draft I think evaluating draft prospects a year in advance is difficult for 90% of the players, the exceptions being the top tier guys that will be battling for the top 3 picks.

3. Saying he is a bit on the small side isn't a slight on DJ, he is listed at 6-1 but I think he is a bit shy of that. The majority of the NBA pg's are 6-3+ 190+. Its not a huge difference on paper but I think he could use the time to add muscle to prepare to pound with pg's that play bigger like, Westbrook, Paul, Knight, Dragic, etc. and I think he needs time to develop a bit more.

Like I said, I am glad DJ is coming back. I think the team will benefit from it and I think that ultimately he will too. The D-league is full of guys that left early and didn't get drafted by anyone or were drafted in the 2nd round and didn't get a guaranteed contract. A lot of those guys were really good college players but they just didn't have the game to make it in the league.

He will thrive even more in Brey's offense next year...they did a great job in his development from his freshman to sophomore years...and yes I expect both Ryan and the Pflueger( I might have gotten that wrong) kid to play. Both kids can really shoot the ball. And expect Vasturia to step up in a PatC type of team leader role...
