I was watching "College Football Live" on Friday and the panelists were discussing ND's win total for 2015. Danny was at 9 and Ed Cunningham was at 10 or more. Anyway, Danny felt that the controversial call at FSU might have been the difference maker for last season. He never mentioned key suspensions or injuries. Danny might not have even been aware of the suspensions / injuries. It's interesting that either he.... A) really believes the call was a possible difference maker despite the injuries or........... B) Is totally unaware of all that happened on the defensive side of the ball last season after the FSU game. On a side note, Ed Cunningham is all in for 2015 Irish. (Editor's Note: I do like Danny's work and remember like it was yesterday his belief that Pat Ryan's call was 100% correct).

He is a former FSU quarterback who failed in the NFL and spins Winstons innocence. Don't look to Kannell for fairness regarding ND!

The season does NOT disintegrate if the TD stands v. FSU. After a demoralizing loss like that there is less motivation to overcome injuries and other common setbacks

How is that call not the defining moment of the season last year. ND wins that game and they are 8-0 and have a ton of momentum moving forward despite the suspensions. After FSU alot happened injury wise but the attitude of the team differed to. Not sure why focusing on 1 issue or another as the difference maker is that untrue.

The call was correct. The call that they missed was the unsportsmanlike conduct, taking off a helmet after that play. If the rigged ref saw the pick then he had to see the helmet of an FSU player purposely being taken off on the field. Should've been 1st and goal Irish. Kelly botched that pick play and we all know it. ND will never get a fair call on the road. That's why there needs to be a better coach at the helm. Kelly is in over his head. If he designs that play the way it's supposed to be done, ND wins.

Paul Finebaum also tells it like it is. The video is up on espn.com right now. He says the ND schedule is merciful. Maybe 9-3, 10-2 at best.

He's right. I don't get why SI writers and fans think it's an easy schedule? Osu plays nobody and gets praised. ND plays four top 21 teams and is bashed for "only" playing that many by SI writers. Must be nice to play by different rules at osu.

There is a good chance ND starts 1-2. Don't sleep on UVA. I'm still going with 8-4 until Kelly proves otherwise. He's just not a very good coach and has cost ND so many wins. This season it will be losses to GT, Clemson, USC and with nothing to play for at the end a loss to Stanford. The sleeper of all sleepers will be that Pitt game. We saw Kelly choke that game away two years ago.

Will Swarbrick change his mind on the cold seat if Kelly goes 6-6?

I didn't know Kelly was in on that play.

Danny Kannel was a great college QB and is probably the most unbiased and most fair sports announcer in the business. You'll find few who will give ND any better accolades. Lou aside.

If Kannel gives Winston the benefit of the doubt it's because unlike some he believes in the Bill of Rights and the American justice system. Not to mention there was insufficient evidence a rape ever occured plus the girl has no credibility after telling numerous lies of what transpired that evening.

Kannel was certainly not a great college qb. He was very good, but great is way over the top. Likewise, he is absolutely not the most unbiased sports announcer. Really, if you would stick to the truth once in a while and not try to make all things FSU look so glorious when in fact the truth rears its ugly head every 2 or 3 months, you wouldn't look like such a dope.

Then again, I have always said that you, and the several usernames you fight with are the same person with severe psychological issues. That continues to be pretty clear to anyone who doesn't get involved in your pathetic game.

Absolutely idiotic post. But considering the source, no surprise.

You guys seem to expect Mo1e to be honest at times. That will never happen. He was born a liar, lived by lies and will always be a liar. Is infatuation and his need to try to paint FSU as respectable and despicable people associated with FSU as decent is just a part of the lie of a life he leads.

Another lie from Rival's #1 liar.

A lie? You spoke lies, he restated your lies and everyone here knows you lie.

You are nothing but a worn out right wing old man, who hates decent things who never was worth a fart and lives a lie trying to prove some worth you never had. Find a high bridge!

Basically what Danny Kanell said was right. He never said it was a bad call though . Lol . He sucks. That play did cost them an awful lot . ND wins that game they are ranked #1 or #2 ( beating the defending champs on their home field???) remember they got a ton of credit in the loss. , Have a Heisman front runner and most importantly remain undefeated with some room for error down the stretch . Every team has injuries. So let's say ND is 8-0 and loses to ASU ( a good team on the road) . Now you are 8-1 but still mathematically in it the discussion for the playoff. Still motivated !!! The ASU ended any hope and IMO that game was the defining moment for BK as a head coach. He threw his QB under the bus ( whether he was right or wrong that should not have happened to that kid publicly) Players saw that . The team spiraled downhill fast . Cam fumbles and cost ND the Northwestern game ( BK never threw him under that bus ) Louisville Missed FG ???? and everyone knows the USC debacle. I put those last 4 games on BK because he is the HC and it starts there. Player accountability is important but so are the coaching decisions . I say defining moment because this team has high aspirations anything LESS then a New years day bowl game will be unacceptable. 8-4 won't cut it again . 10-2 playing Bama in the Sugar Bowl is progress. I feel that every year under the Kelly regime an 8-4 season could have been easily 10-2 . It's the mindset of the team that comes from the leader. Texas and GTECH are at Home these are must wins . UVA on the road is still UVA. Clemson game will be a major battle , USC very tough. The schedule has good teams but a great team that can get better each week should win the PItt type game on the road. Crap happens but I am tired of too many bad things always happening . 12-0 one season had great things happen the other 4 years have been opposite . Is that personnel or coaching ?
Expectations are high this year.

Another lie. Lofty goals today. Trying to break your Rivals record for the most lies in the shortest time. Good job.

Mo1e, you simply suck. You lie when it would even be more prudent to tell the truth, but you are simply a POS and worse, an FSU apologist!

What's so bad about that? Isn't he saying that if we got our just victory over FSU like we should have, that we would have kept rolling, and maybe even overcome our injuries and finished strong?

That doesn't sound like that irresponsible or wildly off-base a thing for him to say. Nor does 9-3 seem like that uncharitable a prediction for us. I don't think Danny Kanell is wronging ND.

Well I don't think they would have made the call if not for CJ drive blocking his dude, instead of just tangling up for a moment, and then switching to making visible and violent attempts to release from and avoid any contact, thus in no way giving any southern ref who wants to be a hero an excuse for calling a pick play penalty.

So that was on Prosise. He butchered that play. He better make it up to us this year, he owes us.

Not sure getting the call(s) and beating FSU would have prevented injuries and suspensions and made our replacement youth play any better or suddenly have gained tons of game experience. Just my opinion. My original intent was not so much the terrible call(s) but whether that call(s) changed the direction of the season or was it truly and only the injuries that did it. It's all conjecture anyway.

Truly conjecture, but you make one ponder.

It was a horrible series of calls that prevented a victory over FSU, but the injuries and youth made an even bigger difference as the team lost a few games.

With some better luck the Irish will do much better in 2015.

I have never lied! You have been proved to be a liar over and over.

You are a very sad old man.
Another lie ..... You are on a roll.

You have been called "the biggest liar in all of Rivals" by numerous mods. One of the many reasons you and your multiple usernames have been banned at so many Rival sites. You have been called a pathological liar by almost every regular poster at this site. For a reason. Who are you trying to fool now .... fool?

Nice try you POS. are you a Trump fan? You seem to have the same type of integrity.....NONE!

You lie about everything. You must be hated by your kids and family! Sad.

I guess we can agree that "great" is in the eye of the beholder. At the time Kannel broke and held several FSU QB records. Considering he was Charlie Ward's backup as a freshman and sophomore and only started two years that by itself would translate into great in many eyes.

He was 10-1-1 his junior year (included a win over ND I believe) and 10-2 his senior year. He was an honorable mention All American and drafted by the NFL. Also interesting is he was drafted by the Yankies too.

Also inducted into FSU Hall of Fame for his QB play. And engineered what was at the time the greatest 4th quarter comeback in NCAA history against FSU's biggest rival (UF).

IMHO that spells great at the college level. But you are entitled to your opinion.

Another lie. Just the opposite. You really need to stop making stuff up. You have reached the 5 year old maturity level at last. Get some help psycho.

You are a trump fan aren't you?

Is Climate Change real? Is Obama a Muslim? Has FSU ever cheated?

Too funny, but you refuse to answer!

Not me you moron, why don't you explain why you are proud of FSU'
Get lost......I have already done that. Why don't you tell us why you are proud of the school you went to (lol) and continue to be hell bent on embarrassing the one you didn't (couldn't) attend.

Bwaaaaaaaaa

I'm not wasting my time discussing politics with some far left crazy wacko. Quit trying to deflect.

Turnover, you are really a dull blade.

And you are argusman. Enjoy your so called top 5 coach this year. I'm wondering what games he'll screw up this season? The list is ever growing.

When in doubt, go for 2!!!! Or in your case Argus, 20. As in 20 different screen names.

Ridiculous you even bring that up. Did you ever play organized sports? All he was saying is that ND put everything they had....mind body spirit into that game. Did they have a post FSU game let down? Yes. Very much. That is all he was meaning.
The injuries would have caught up with them anyways but if they don't lose that FSU game you know damn well they play those remaining games a lot better no matter the injuries.
That game was not just a loss but it was how the loss unfolded that gave them a serious hangover

Umm....Kannell picked Notre Dame to win that game. Seriously. Kannell is about as straight as could be. He hides his alma mater far better than most on the air. He is very matter of fact and fair.

Btw, I despise FSU but DK does a good job on college football

See, I'm not seeing the FSU game as a season ender. Even if ND wins that game, suspensions and injuries still happen and the back ups are still untested youth with little to no game experience. Cam and Brown still fumble and those games end up the same because the defense is still bad because of the injuries. It's an interesting debate that has no wrong answer.

There is one correct answer. If they win that game....or better yet don't lose how they did ....they play those remaining games better. Do the results stay the same? Possibly, but I guarantee you they play better.
They were a flat lifeless team after the demise in Tallahassee.

Now I do blame a lot of that on BK because he needs to meet the challenge of picking his guys back up. But I believe even he checked out a bit after that controversial finish that was put everything into.

Yeah that makes a whole lot of sense jackass!

If a controversial lost has that much effect on a season you have to look at the coaches, bt I don;t think it did. I think injuries and EG decline in play lead to the turn around.
