As an Alter High School grad I am pretty excited to see four (2 schol/2 walk-ons) on the ND roster this year. Made me wonder what school has the record for most players on ND roster in one year. Has to be more than five at a time, just curious.

Back in the 70s we might have had as many as 6 to 8 kids from Moeller at one time.

Would have to agree with T Walsh that Ohio's Moeller High School (with Gerry Faust as its head coach) had more players on a Notre Dame team at one time than any other school.

You need to go back to the start and I am sure you would find high schools out of Chicago that contributed pre-Rockne, during Rockne, and after Rockne. Whether the lads all came out of one or two schools is a matter if research. I can't afford to commit my intern to doing the research because I am going to send him to the White Lot today and have him stake out prime real estate for my opening day tailgate.

twalsh is correct, back in the 1970s a "normal" stream of players came to ND from the Gerry Faust coached Moeller HS team. My guess is that over the years this has changed, a lot probably depends on the coaching staffs at different schools.

To IrishJack and IrishHerb,

Hey Guys, I'm sticking with Moeller during the Faust era. Unfortunately, having no intern to turn to, I only have my addled memory to rely on. Happy to report my high school (Notre Dame High School, Sherman Oaks, California, Class of '65) currently has two members on the roster.

I actually tried google and nothing came up. With that, my research is done. We will leave it at Cincy Moeller until other evidence proves it wrong.

During the last 2 coaching eras (Weis & Kelly) we've had a couple from Cretin-Derham Hall up in Minnesota. Not sure if any numbers were here at the same time though.

Agree with jackrush and others, Moeller probably hold the record for the most in any given year.

Don't remember the details but St. Thomas Aquinas of Ft. Lauderdale sent some players to ND over the past 10 years.

Mt Carmel Chicago? That's what I am talking about. Before the days of social media and TV coverage, there would have to be a steady influx of players coming in from Chicago, especially the Chicago Catholic league. It only makes sense and I'm taking this back as far as Rockne.

At one time there were two players from Wayne Hills - Greg and Chris Olsen. That lasted for about 5 minutes.
