""" Cue the "Notre Dame is overrated" comments here, but there's basically one big question for the Irish: quarterback. Even then, it's not a terrible concern.

Everett Golson can flat-out throw the ball. His one year "vacation," if you will, in 2013 paid dividends in his passing game. He just has major ball-security issues and he's going to be pushed by Malik Zaire for that starting job.

The defense broke in a lot of new starters last year and that, coupled with attrition, showed down the stretch when the Irish gave up more than 43 points per game in November. However, most of the defense is back. If that side of the ball improves, there will be less pressure on Golson/Zaire to win games single-handedly.

Sometimes, teams are best when coming off of a disappointing season. If the Irish solve their quarterback conundrum, this could be a dangerous team. """

I say , when the Irish QB duo is working this will be a dominant team

Yep, we barely squeaked past what became an unrated LSU team.

No worries though.

It's ND men to the rescue.

There are no excuses this year. We should pulverize people.

PS What did you think of our opening plays vs LSU?

First we fumbled the kickoff and then were forced to call a timeout... yay for us.

Fournette's kickoff return showcased our ability to escort opposing runners.

I don't think we botched a place hold though.....

Go Irish!

LSU was a strong team up and down the roster, except for QB. ND was a decimated team but the QB duo made that last game>>>>GO IRISH

We needed that win in a huge way for "off season momentum".

Zaire winning a bowl game MVP in his first start was very impressive.

You sound like fun. Nothing else happened that game?

Fournette had 11 carries in that game.

I argue if he had 15, ND would have lost. His average was 13 YPC / for 143 total and 2 TD, and another on ST.

Summary:

LSU f'ing blew. Do you like the rhyme?

LSU went into the prestigious, incredibly historic, and traditionally relevant "Music City Bowl" at a ranking of I believe # 23.

Our win knocked them out of the top 25. (That happened.)

We traded our defending Pinstripe Bowl champions for reigning "Music City Bowl" champs! (That happened.)

I digress, wasn't the Pinstripe Bowl versus might rutgers 19-16 with about 9 minutes to go?

Fournette averaged 13 ypc. Dural averaged 15 ypc. Prosise crushed them by averaging 25 ypc. Look it up.

Zaire was 12/15 passing.

Our 51 carries for 263 yards was stout. LSU had 38 for 285.

The team averaged 15 yds on kickoff returns. Lsu averaged 60.

The team averaged -.5 yds on punt returns. Lsu averaged 9.

Our starting TE caught 1 pass which equaled the total catch production for all the other TE's on the roster for the year.

Miraculously Brindza was 4/4 XP and 1 for 1 FG.

"Zaire winning a bowl game MVP in his first start was very impressive."

The football team is always overrated. It comes with the territory having the largest fan base in the country. The basketball team has no fan base and is never ranked in the preseason polls but almost always out-performs the football team during the regular season. The football team had the worst season of any team on campus yet they always get all of the attention. Pretty good recruiting pitch to recruits. Go 6-6 and the media still covers you like you're at the Super Bowl.

Lol, homer posts never end well.

Les Miles should have recieved the game ball! His 4th Qtr play calling was ... well, sooo Les!

(it is kinda odd a fan base brags about a great defensive effort (for years!) and the opposing back aves 13 per)

does notre dame ever win in your eyes or does their opponent only lose ?

It was a significant win as we had lost 5 of 6 and 4 straight. (The fsu game still irks me). The prior game versus southern cal was among the worst ND football disasters I've witnessed. We needed to stop the hemorrhaging and build some post season momentum. It was a much needed bounce back and we showed some resilience. Also, starting Zaire sent a message to Golson and added fuel to his departure. I had no idea that would be the last game for him...
