Considering visiting South Bend for a weekend - what should I see?

I haven't been in 50 years (I was 6 at the time). If happens, I would be visiting the 2nd week of July. Can anyone help suggesting what to see, what would be happening on campus at that time(probably very slow), a possible stadium tour and how to fill a Sunday at Notre Dame.
Family can't make it. We have a small business and don't make a lot of money - so going alone for a wedding in Ohio.
I know this isn't what the forum is here for - but any suggestions would be great.
