watch the Vid: guys seem very shy about trying to tackle him; at about 1:55 a guy hits him but then doesn't get up!

PERSE --we have been hoping for a running game lo these many years, and

now it appears our prayers have bwwn answered all over the place.

Two returning RBs are proven , the addition of ADAMS and WILLIAMS--two

game breakers---the addition of CJ PROSISE who is big and fast ^-2/220

H/S track starand now the commit of TONY JONES---6-0/215 with a year to go in H/S.

Mr JONES will probably be 220 or so when he arrives on campus to stay.

TONY is a nasty rubber as you poibnt out and fast enough to get into anybodys

secondary. This is getting exciting----COACHS SANFORD and DENSON must

be licking their chops.

3 recruits commit - 2 of which are 3-stars, and one a long snapper. I'm sure these kids were thinking they know the Irish are going to have a smaller class this year and weren't about to pass up the opportunity to snag those scholarship offers. Part of me wishes we'd be getting some 4 and 5 star guys to fill these limited slots, but as always I defer to the staff knowing 1000% more than us. Jones has offers from some pretty solid schools, and probably showed our staff all they needed to see during the weekend.

A little info---TONY was the MVP of running backs in a recent event he attended in GEORG

Then he got a 4th* tacked onto his ratings after he was the top RB in a NIKE EVENT in ORLANDO.

He was also invited to the OPENING because of these accomplishments
---
His Coach said--he is a very hard working kid who wants to be the best back in the country.

TONT plays for IMG here in BRADETONFLO and they play a very tough schedule

he shared the RB position with 2 others last year and still ran for 771 yds (alm0st 12 YPC)

and q2 touchdowns.---------------Big / strong / fast & nasty ---- just the way we like 'em.

35:
I agree. Depth with power, speed and athleticism. An OL that has power potential. Now make a running attack a featured part of the offense.

ND fans long for visions of The Bus, or Wayne Bullock pile drivers! Gentleman, start your engines.

One of my former students works with the football team at IMG. They are a national powerhouse and play a good/ great schedule. I will get all the details on Jones.

It appears ther will be football @ ND after Tony Alford

Purse 23 k -- still think coaches shy away from working w Coach Kelly because they can't advance their career ?

purse 23 k did Jack S hire these guys because coach kelly can't put togehter a staff?

nit wit

^ go home to Daddy. The good news, ND goes 11 or 12 W's OR 7 W's and your gone! The only fear is another 8 win excuse filled season.

This is ND!

I like this commit. Yes, like many of you I want the big time 4, 5 star recruits, but after watching his film, I'm very encouraged with what I see. He doesn't have top end speed, but he's got good balance and very quick/shifty lateral movements, which in my opinion is more important for an RB to have than elite speed. I suspect he'll be like Robert Hughes and will play at 225 pounds and be more of a power back. One thing I think he'll have to work on is patience with the blocks and vision. His highlight films show the O-Line opening HUGE holes for him that he won't get at the college level. But teaching patience and vision is a coachable aspect that he can improve on.

Welcome to ND Tony Jones Jr.! GO IRISH!

interested to see if jr97 can report back with any additional scouting on the kid; but he is different than recent additions.
Perhaps the staff additions are reflected in this recruit; a different focus.

How is this kid not at least a 4*? His bowl legged stance and running style remind me of Adrien Peterson. Love his blocking film too.

Wasn't there a thread on here a couple of week ago criticizing the academics at IMG Acaemy and it was there to develop players for the NFL?

TONY gothis 4th STAR from 247 after 2 MVP awards at

camps over the last few months. RIVALS and SCOUT will catch up soon.

IMG Academy started playing HS football in 2013. I noticed IMG about 2 weeks ago when I was looking at the Rivals Top 100 list. IMG has 8 guys on the list. Yes EIGHT top 100 kids on one HS team. If you look up the basic info on the school, it is a high dollar sports training facility that now offers academics. The football program is "sponsored" by John Madden and run by Chris Weinke.

So without getting into the particulars of 3 star vs. 4 star, I'd say if any kid is a starter in THAT program and wants to play for ND then send him a plane ticket to South Bend.

I also expect that we will see more "IMG Academies" pop up in Texas, California, etc in the next few years...if they don't already exist.

Nice to pick up a power guy who will run well between the tackles and get those tough yards in critical short yardage situations. Expecting to see our OL continue the momentum of imposing their will as they did in the LSU game, and nice to have a complimentary power back a year out.

Tony was the 1st invite to The Opening. Also MVP of the Rivals camp down that way. He'll be plenty talked about this year.
Last season IMG had a 3 back platoon. He got 70 carries for over 800 yards. 13 TDs on 70 carries. 99% of coaches would kill for that type of production.

Different between High School and College. High school defense are up to 220 weight. Colleges's defense line avg weight is 330.

Not sure what this is in response to.

But, take a look at IMG's schedule from last year. They played a pretty tough schedule. And next years is even tougher.
And ND has recruited plenty of defensive players over the last 5 years that are well over 220# coming out of HS.
6 defensive players over 220 in 2015, 10 in 2014, 5 in 2013. There are plenty of schools in FL, TX, CA etc where the starting defenses are pretty large.

Not sure what the reference to HS line size was in response to either, but every year we see power runners matriculate from HS who lose their power and size advantage when they get to college. This occurs less and less as the major HS football programs are churning out bigger and stronger and faster DL. Hard to believe the level of change taking place in football players at every level on a regular basis. Will be very surprised if Jones is not a dominant inside runner for us

I prefer Jones is " strongly considering" ND and at the moment they are the team I would like to commit to next February. That way if he changes his mind it won't seem like they lost a player they never actually had.
