I resisted visiting Columbus for the ND game last year due to reports of unhospitable fans. I plan though on visiting on Friday and taking my daughter to the Morgan Wallen concert. Any Columbus visitors with a recommendation or two of things to see...where to grab lunch? Will only be in Columbus for the day from first thing Friday morning until Saturday morning.

I have also not booked a hotel yet...so looking now...downtown....out in the north suburb near Polaris mall? Close to stadium if available....I imagine traffic will be a nightmare.

Thanks!

My wife and I went to a concert at Express Live in downtown Columbus on June 2. We stayed at the Hilton downtown and walked to the show. Thought it was weird that on a Friday, a warm sunny day, there was nobody around in the downtown area. We looked to have lunch & drinks and walked into a few bars that were completely empty. We thought that being downtown with many businesses / corporate offices that there would be more people around. Even after the show we went into a bar for a drink and it was almost empty???
Hilton was nice, 2 towers of rooms, one on each side of the street.

I went down and tailgated last year here in Columbus -- just like any college town, you will find your morons. I hung out with many OSU fans (some that were friends) without any issues. Again, were there unruly OSU people there, probably -- I just did not encounter any.

As for the concert -- I guess it is at the Stadium? Depends on where you are staying -- the downtown area by the Convention Center has a lot of nice places to eat/drink.

If you stay in the Polaris area (which is where I work) there are a few nice hotels and a lot of places to eat/drink. The drive to the stadium is only about 20 minutes down St Rt 315.

I may stay around Polaris...just for ease of leaving in the morning for the drive back to Canada. Will likely look around downtown (German Village?) and Ohio State Campus. Yes concert is in Ohio Stadium.

Thanks everyone so far. Any more tips before I arrive please post. Quick trip....Jays in Cleveland today and Columbus tomorrow but looking forward to it.

I ate at Schmidt's Sausage Haus before the game last year - it's also in German Village. Fantastic food. That German Village section has some of the best eating establishments in the Midwest at very reasonable prices......heck, maybe the country.

I also mixed with the OSU fans tailgaiting before the game a was treated extremely well. Like a few have mentioned, you'll find a-holes in every fan base but I didn't encounter any last year in Columbus
