Obviously i'm a bit biased
. But a home game for Nebraska (the second half will be dark outside). Vs a team that we hate. Records mean nothing in games like these and teams with nothing to lose can be very dangerous. I realize no one has any respect for us this season which is expected. But all of our games have been close, maybe we are starting to figure it out. Plus we had a bye week and Riley was known for knocking off/ pestering some high ranked programs after bye weeks. Vegas has this game at -1.5 Iowa. Friday at 2:30. Dont miss it. Good luck to the Fighting Irish.
Riley's teams at Oregon State (since 2003) are 14-6 coming off a bye week. Wins include at #12 Oregon in 2007. #1 USC in 2008 (Thursday night game following bye). @ #19 UCLA in 2012.
The losses include:
6-point loss on the road to #7 USC in 2009
4-point loss on the road to #7 Oregon in 2009 (Thursday night game coming off a bye) - Oregon also had a bye
Loss on the road to #19 ASU in 2013
6-point loss in double overtime to Utah in 2014 (thursday night following bye) - Utah also had a bye
(Note: all rankings are at the time the game was played)
Far from a flawless record but history suggests Riley's teams tend to over-perform when given the extra time to prepare. Iowa, on the other hand, will have to come into Lincoln on short rest. Certainly not enough to guarantee victory, but a source of mild hope if nothing else.
This write up came from a poster on our board. Didnt want to take credit for this research, it was just a good write up for anyone who wants some optimism.
