gave us the best chance to win? I too got enamored with Golson's passing ability but he was really, well, awful in every other aspect of the game.

He was a fumble waiting to happen on anything resembling a run (scramble or called). He had many, what appeared to be, mess ups when making protection calls at the line. He ran the read option poorly, sometimes creating more fumbles. He would, more often than people mention, through the ball downfield to a low percentage attempt on a 3rd down when he only needed 5 yards. And most importantly as a leader he was absent last year after FSU and basically disappeared against our biggest rival when we needed him to carry the team. The worse thing about all these negative aspects of his game is that they never improved. He fumbled and bumbled more at the end of last season than ever before, he confused his backs and line on protections a number of times against NW and UL and his leadership lessened when ND experienced difficulty.

I wish him the best and hope he succeeds against everyone outside of ND next year but Golson could throw a great ball and that's about it.
