Vs Bama than they did against ND and two of clemson's score were off a fumbled kickoff and and a shanked punt . ND's defense is not that bad and will improve with the influx of talent in last years recruiting class and the 2016 class coming in .

Not saying defense is great but it wasn't atrocious also I look forward to seeing how we do next year healthy .

Comparing how much one team scores vs. Team A as opposed to Team B isn't a particularly relevant statistic. It's too small of a sample size and there are too many other variables at play.

Thanks for clearing that up -- again missed my point by a wide margin- thanks for sharing though

I don't think I did. You noted that Clemson did worse against our defense than Alabama's. I'm assuming that statement meant something; otherwise, why would you have said it. A reasonable interpretation would be that you were implying that our defense, prior to injury, would have been comparable to Alabama's.

I'm also excited to see what a healthy defense can produce, though I didn't need last night's result to make that determination (nor was that determination bolstered by last night's result).

As an example, I had multiple Missouri people tell me after the 2012 national championship game that Missouri did better against Alabama than Notre Dame did. It was a ridiculous statement, and it implied that Missouri (who finished 5-7) was somehow better than Notre Dame.

You are a joke. Two entirely different games. Clemson vs. ND - Clemson got out to a big lead and "took the gas pedal off" - they began to play conservative. That is why they stopped scoring vs. ND.

Clemson was also a very much improved team from when we played them. They destroyed Oklahoma and had a chance to beat Bama.

NDEwing was spot on in his retort to this and you. You really do have no clue and BTW I actually like BK, but your posting is so off base about ND and BK it makes you look like a joker.

Do you think if ND played Clemson last night that the ND defense would only let up 80 yards passing and 100 rushing to Watson? And hold them to 24 points?

The offense ND faced wasn't even close to the one last night.

Ya, all this talk about defense for Bama's defense, gave up 42 to the Bucks last year, 40 to Clemson and 43 to Ole Miss this year.

You're a funny troll. Were they playing in a hurricane last night? Sheesh!

I find it hard to believe Clemson let off the gas going up 14-0. That's not Clemson's style this year or any year. If Dabo could have buried ND that night then, they would have folks. ND's defense this year would never be confused with Ara's defenses of the sixties and early seventies, but it was capable early in season before injuries began to happen. It was a fun game to watch IMMHO.

Clemson had a decent lead and in the rain - Dabo dialed it down and played not too lose in that second half and that's what happened.

Clemson had a 21-3 lead after 3 qtrs. - they most definitely slowed and dialed down their offense late in the 3rd qtr and all through the 4th qtr.

6 years...music city bowl...

"....but we had high ankle sprains"..."but we had injuries...."

(at least 2 critical play making positions were arguably upgrades....)

kelly's often an embarrassing putz.

His going for 2 when 1 was needed is all anyone needs to know.....

"We're # 1, we're # 1" "kelly's a top 3 cfb coach", "kelly's a better coach than Harbaugh...."

kelly's all hat.....unfortunately, this one fits him to a t..... what a di**....

ND and Clemson's offenses were playing in a monsoon in October. The biggest question is how we managed over 400 yds of offense against them, even with an easy 75 to 100 yds of dropped passes, in those conditions. And lest anyone think so, teams do not take their foot off the pedal on defense.

OP, you do realize that the only thing that probably kept ND in the game against Clemson was the horrible weather?
