In the two biggest interceptions of our season to date Christian Gray made both interceptions with incredible catches. 99% of Db's do not secure catches on the USC interception and the PSU interceptions. Most of the time DB's drop those and its "oh so close" and then the other team extends the drive to score, and it spells doom. great hands and playmaking ability by him

Heck of a play. Who knows what happens if he doesn’t catch that. Watts as well with good hands.

Has there been one legitimate drop all year from the defense on an interception attempt?

I think Gray has dropped like 5 picks this year. And on the first pick it was kinda shaky. I actually don't think he has good hands at all but he made 2 of the biggest ints of the year.

Watts has great hands

Really, is that usually what happens when DBs almost make interceptions, and come oh so frustratingly close to making the big game-changing turnover, but they don't and so other team totally scores and they lose the game? I guess so.

You're right about CG though. Those were two massive INTs, and both pretty nice catches, especially the one vs USC where it was slightly awkward but he managed to reel it in. Victory-securing INTs they both were.....

To me those two USC picks were like a season-defining moment. Almost if looking back on it, it was like a foreshadowing that this team was going to keep winning. That was kind of a sluggish game, sort of, almost, even though it was high scoring. And we never trailed and seemed pretty comfortably ahead the whole time, but we never really stopped them either or put enough distance between us on the scoreboard. And then it almost kind of snuck up on you, and there's three minutes left, or five minutes or whatever, and USC is getting ready to score and tie the game. We just weren't stopping them, and Lincoln Riley was having an on day. And then not one but two 100 yard pick sixes to seal the win, and you couldn't help but feel the football gods are smiling on us, and that they favor ND, and we enjoy their good graces.

If we do win it all, and there's like a sweet, high quality, high production values retrospective video of the whole season, that game will be a righteous moment in the odyssey, and the image of Xavier Watts streaking down the sideline and getting in a few shots at the USC bench, will be a high point of any such video.

he's low key one of the best cover corners in the game

I agree with you about those pics being season defining moments.

yeah those two catches by CG were both very massive. Very difficult catches in their own right. And maybe its just me being a doom and gloomer lol but it just feels like often times to me when the team Im rooting for comes "oh so close" to an int or a sack or something like that we end up being on the wrong side. Im sure thats not ALWAYS the case haha it could just be my jaded heart lol haha

You're probably right, and those are the ones we all remember, when we almost had it. That sure would be awesome if we win this thing, and the defense gets a pick six to put us over the top or something, and turn the tide in our favor. This is all pretty badass this is even happening. Very first playoff and we're in the championship game. Hell effin' yeah!

So well said by you here, this is really badass. First ever playoff and we earn our way to the final. So damn cool. Oh my gosh wouldnt it be so awesome if we won it with a pick six or a scoop and score fumble. I still cant believ how this last month and a half played out and it all began with those two 100 yard pick sixes vs USC. Really before that 4th quarter vs USC it had been since September 28th since we had to shine in crunch time to secure a win, the Louisville game right?

You’re bringing your post count up from 1 per year to 2 per year. Slow it down ;)

Sep 28 was the last tight game prior to USC.

I never 100% give up on any game but it really wasn’t looking good when Leonard went down. Angeli leads them down for a crucial three. Then, surprisingly, Leonard is back in the second half and the offense has maybe the best drive of the game.

Best win I’ve seen, followed by Georgia and Indiana.

Haha I have been lurking for years here just reading. lol. But I figured wth why not get more involved here lol. Oh my gosh I gotta be honest I was not feeling too optimistic at all midway through that second qtr. It looked like we were on the bordeline of another Hard Rock Stadium Nightmare. Angeli was huge. That opening drive of the 3rd qtr was heavenly.
